Interviews' strength is bringing different perspectives into a course. Whether it is the equivalent of a guest speaker, a subject matter expert, or a testimonial from a non-expert who reflects the course content, an interview allows you to incorporate a fresh voice into your course.
Interviews, though they are carefully planned, are not usually fully scripted. This allows for a more natural tone to the content and might allow you to incorporate speakers who are not as accustomed to presenting or being on camera by engaging them in a process that feels more like a conversation.
This interview provides an opportunity to hear on-the-ground experiences from a working executive at a major company, giving a tangible example of the broad principles discussed elsewhere in the course.
Though interviews conducted in the studio offer more polish and room for editing, with planning, interviews can also be captured remotely and edited for time and clarity. Sometimes, the benefit of including a particular speaker will outweigh the cost in production value.
