My name is Norine Ornelas. I have had the privilege of being a part of the St. Dorothy family (Go Bruins) since 2016. This is my 17th year teaching.
I was born and raised in Mar Vista, California. After getting married in 2003, I moved to West Covina. My husband and I have 3 amazing children.
I graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1994. After that, I went on to earn my Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Multicultural Studies from California State University, Long Beach. In 2003, I started my teaching career in 2nd grade. Shortly after, in 2005, I began teaching Kindergarten. In 2008, I furthered my education by obtaining my Master's Degree and Teaching Credential at Loyola Marymount University.
My educational philosophy is recognizing children as strong, competent, and curious individuals, who want to learn, grow, and communicate with others. In my classroom, I aim to create and maintain an environment where children can grow and thrive while exploring the world around them. My goal is to foster the importance of faith and learning. I also believe that connection is important, and relationships with my parents and students matter. Parent consistency, communication, and collaboration provide a vital support system in helping students flourish.
