1) Political Affairs Programme – this programme features well with A Level Politics, but anyone who is interested in fighting global poverty is welcome to apply. The programme incorporates the following:
- Meet with their elected official.
- Represent The Borgen Project at various business, political and community events.
- Assist with fundraising. Create a personal fundraising campaign and meet targets. This task builds upon developmental growth, both on a personal and professional level. The list of benefits are goal setting, decision making, wise use of resources, creating a plan, keeping records, communicating, co-operation, and self-responsibility.
- Mobilise individuals to contact their elected official in support of key poverty-reduction legislation.
- As needed, speak to groups, classes, and organisations.

- Fundraising Development: Learn how to fundraise. Create a personal fundraising campaign and meet targets. This task builds upon developmental growth, both on a personal and professional level. - Recruitment: Update programme postings; inform groups and classes of openings, introduction to recruitment platforms and listening in to interviews.

- Pitch story ideas to print, broadcast and digital media.

– Research topics.

IBM offer a gap year, or one year placement scheme that can be taken whilst you decide to go onto an apprenticeship or university. There are two types of placement: one in business and one in technology. Both offer an annual salary of £18,000.
They also have applications open for their degree apprenticeships in Business Management or Digital Technology Solutions. These require 120 UCAS points to apply and come with a salary of £20,000. Just scroll further down the page for more information.

There are vacancies for Light Vehicle and Heavy Vehicle Technicians, Customer Service Experts and Retail Parts Advisors.

Using your home postcode, you can search for vacancies in your local areas and then make an application. The vacancies are constantly changing, with new positions being added regularly. If a you are unable to find something in your local area initially, please do check back regularly as new positions may become available.
The apprenticeships are open to students who are 16 and over (they must be 16 to start the programme in September, so can apply whilst they are 15), and ideally Mercedes-Benz look for students with a grade 4 or above in English and Maths at GCSE. They do offer functional skills where these grades have not been achieved. Further information can be found on our website, as well as some hints and tips about writing an application.
