OIT-Owned Compute components

OIT-Owned Compute has updated the metric for service code 2261 to “per server unit per month” with the number of server units allocated based on 3 specific criteria in order to reflect a range of compute (CPU) sizes, memory (RAM) sizes, and operating systems. 

This method allows customers to procure the right amount of the compute service based on their technology needs, and ensures their billing reflects the specific amount used.

How the rate is calculated

CPU Size Options:

• Small: < 3      Units = 1.00

• Medium: 3 - 7 Units = 1.50

• Large: 9 - 11    Units = 2.00

• X-Large 12+     Units = 2.50

RAM Size Options:

• Small: < 4      Units = 1.00

• Medium: 5 - 8 Units = 1.50

• Large: 9 - 12    Units = 2.00

• X-Large: 12+    Units = 2.50

Operating System Options:

• MS Windows Server 2019 or above Units = 1.00

• MS Windows Server 2016 or later Units = 3.00

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.10 or above Units = 1.00

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.9 or below Units = 3.00

Basic Examples:

Example 1: 

Small CPU (1.0 units)

Small RAM (1.0 units)

Microsoft Windows Server 2019 (1.0 units)= 

Total units:  3.0

Cost: 3 units x $39 per unit = $117 per month

Example 2: 

Large CPU (2.0 units)

Extra Large RAM (2.5 units)

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (3.0 units)

Total units:  7.5

Cost: 7.5 units x $39 per unit = $292.50 per month
