Agency/Organization: Colorado Access
Region: Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, and Douglas Counties
Issue Area: Healthcare
Mission Statement: The MAC gives member voice in COA projects and programs. MAC members represent many groups of people. MAC members give COA new ways to think about member education, member needs, service challenges, and how COA works with community partners. The MAC ensures that COA programs and services are member-reviewed and member-driven.
Time Commitment: MAC meet on the 3rd Tuesday evening of every month. There used to be a 2-year commitment, but since the pandemic they have suspended that and members can continue to participate as long as they would like.
Membership Criteria:
Must be a Health First Colorado (Colorado's Medicaid Program) member, or a family member/caregiver for a HFC or CHP+ member in the Colorado Access geographic area.
Compensation: $25/hour in grocery gift cards; at this point meetings are held virtually so accommodations are not needed in the way they used to be pre-pandemic. That said, the policy is that members are compensated for transportation mileage at the IRS rate. For those without personal transportation, COA makes arrangements for them and pays for it. For members who need childcare/respite care in order to attend, COA provides a flat rate stipend. Finally, in the past on a case-by-case basis we have provided laptops for those who need it to participate in virtual meetings.
