The Colorado Natural Areas Council is a seven member Governor appointed advisory council for the Colorado Natural Areas Program. The Council provides programmatic guidance to the Colorado Natural Areas Program and recommends the designation of certain qualifying lands as State Natural Areas to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission.
The mission of the commission and the division is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, to provide a quality state parks system, and to provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities that educate and inspire current and future generations to serve as active stewards of Colorado’s natural resources.
