In this exercise, you will be creating Rectangular Pattern features. These are used to duplicate one or more features in a specified count and spacing in a Rectangular Pattern. You can arrange the features in rows and columns suppressing individual features, if desired. All occurrences of a feature in a Rectangular Pattern are one feature, but individual occurrences are listed under the pattern feature icon in the Browser. You can Suppress or Unsuppress all occurrences or individual rectangular features.
The completed exercise is shown in the following figure:
Start a new 2D sketch
Draw a 4.75" x 4.75" x .1" box
Start a new 2D sketch on the top of the box you created and draw a .25" x .25" square and dimension it .25" from the left and bottom of the box.
Finish sketch.
Extrude using the cut feature to create a void.
Use the Rectangular Pattern tool to copy the extrusion in two directions.

Direction - Select the direction you wish to copy your object by clicking on a line or edge. You can specify the number of instances and the spacing between them, as well as swap the direction the pattern is going.
