In this project, students will develop more advanced 3D modeling skills and use what they have learned previously, to design a mini golf course with a “theme” of their choice.
They will also learn to work in teams with other students
The Starpoint Golf Zoning Company Currently owns Five separate mini golf courses across the state. Sales have declined overall in the last several years. This is due to the age and infrastructure of the courses. Updates and reconditioning of their course will not be enough to bring back customers. Investors believe that the course needs a complete overhaul and adding a theme to each of their courses may help attract more customer
As part of the redesign challenge, you and your team will help reimagine and model mini-golf courses, infusing them with a unique theme. Each competing design team will submit a concept design that includes one mini golf hole per team member. These holes should collectively showcase the team's overall vision for a themed mini-golf course with unique obstacles and layouts for each hole. Feel free to include extra elements such as a registration desk, clubhouse, or landscaping in your concept!
Teams will design one hole per team member
Each hole must include a starting pad and a hole
Each hole must include one 3d-printed element
Each hole must be playable (the ball must be able to travel from the starting pad to the hole)
There must be a path that connects each hole to the next starting pad
Each hole must have a theme (all holes should have a cohesive theme)
Size
Both holes and path need to fit in a 7.5" x 10" area
Golf ball for the prototype will be 1/4" ball bearing
Hole will be 1/2" diameter
Walls should be 1/4" above the hole floor and 1/8" thick to keep the ball within each hole
Starting pad will be 1" x 3/4"
