Orchestra
This is a performance course designed specifically for Orchestral Instrumentalists of varied ability. Through technical direction, sectional practice, ensemble technique, and aesthetic overview, the student develops skills necessary for the critical performance of symphonic literature. Members of the Orchestra are required to perform in the Christmas and Spring Concerts. Private study is encouraged for all; however, private study is required for all pianists.
Pre-requisite: Audition and Approval of Department Chair Required
Orchestra Honors
To enter this Honors course, a minimum of 90% average and a teacher recommendation is required. Private lessons are required.
In addition to Orchestra, students must also perform in Chamber Music Ensemble or Pep Band, as well as serve the ensemble in a leadership position. Attendance at one extra in school performance is required per quarter.
Performances include Open Houses, Art Shows, Christmas Caroling, etc.
Additionally, historical and musical analysis of the compositions being performed, with assingments and academic reports, are an integral component of this class.
