Paper Bike Resources
There is a wealth of printed and anecdotal information about paper bikes. We collect some of the useful links here:
Paper Bike CAD and Fabrication tips (Googledoc) - cutting circles, miter cuts for angled tube connections, gluing and fastening...
How to cut round wheels - useful page on the old me310 internal wiki. A couple of extra tips: if you can't find a pin the right length, you can fashion one from a piece of bar stock. Also, nowadays, if you are not cutting very many cardboard disks you can just lasercut cut them from cardboard. Finally (if the bandsaw setup is not available) it is also possible to use a hand jig saw with a string or a piece of plastic (or a ruler) and make your own radius cutter. The trick is to anchor the pin into a board underneath and also fix the cardboard that you are cutting with tape to keep it from sliding around.
Coaches - we always have some alumni on campus who are happy to coach bike teams. They are an invaluable resource.
