Mission 7: Making it Real and Making it a System
After a lot of design exploration and divergence it is time for a cycle of convergence. The tagline for ME310B is "Make it real" and the assignments in this mission are aimed toward that goal. We have a few interconnected deliverables to guide this process:
Take Stock - construct a big table (preferably with links to documents) of what you have learned thus far about project background, benchmarking, users and needs and lessons learned from each of your prototypes. Don't forget to include the efforts of your global team.
Plan and construct a first, very crude "system level" Funky Prototype. A big part of this effort is to start to figure out what is, and what is not, part of your system. Many parts will be sketchy, but they should at least be considered. Converging on a sense of what "the system" is should include input from your global partners. This is also a chance to create sub-teams with sub-responsibilities.
Take lessons learned from the Funky Prototype and make a better Functional Prototype that helps set expectations for Spring Quarter.Â
