Vaden & Other Health Benefits

It is easy to be focused on school, work, and all of the exciting opportunities that Stanford has to offer. However, it is necessary to also periodically check in on your mental and physical wellbeing. Stanford University offers several opportunities to either discuss your health or to improve it. This section will provide information about 4 resources and the associated costs.

Vaden Health Center & The Campus Health Service Fee

The Campus Health Service fee is a quarterly fee that is mandatory for all undergraduates enrolled on the Stanford main campus. The fee is charged on the student bill each quarter that tuition is charged and covers most services covered at Vaden Health Center, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and health and wellness institutions. The health fee for the 2017-18 academic year is $210 per quarter.

Students are also required to maintain health insurance, which can either be met via purchasing Cardinal Care (Stanford health insurance plan) or an alternative insurance plan that has comparable benefits to Cardinal Care.

All undergraduate students and coterms receive a $3 credit towards any product in SHRPC each quarter. Undergraduates can potentially receive additional funding for medical and dental expenses by filling out the Medical Dental Expense Form. To qualify undergrads must be enrolled and receiving Need-Based scholarship at the time the expenses were incurred. You will also need to have documentation of the costs to receive any funding. The additional funding may come in the form of loans or scholarship funds depending on the Financial Aid Office’s evaluation of your financial circumstances.
