Students are organised into classes which are part of a year group as follows:
IGCSEs (International General Certification of Secondary Education)
In line with Malvern College UK and the majority of high-quality British international schools worldwide, students at Malvern College Egypt follow a two-year IGCSE programme. In IG1 (the first year), students typically study eight or more subjects, with examinations taken in IG2 (the second year). We do not follow alternative models, such as splitting exams across two years, as these approaches are not aligned with best practice and are not well regarded by further education institutions. Students who have completed their IGCSEs will then move into the Sixth Form programme to study for their final two years A-Levels or IBDP.
A-Level (Advanced Level)
Students entering our Sixth Form have the opportunity to study A-Levels, a prestigious two-year programme recognised by leading universities worldwide. Most students typically select three or four A-Level subjects. Ideally, students should have achieved at least a Grade 6 in the relevant GCSE subject. Where the subject has not been previously studied, a Grade 5 in both English and Mathematics is recommended to ensure they can access the academic demands of the course.
In Year 12, students sit AS Level modules, and in Year 13, they complete their A2 qualifications. A-Levels are a well-established pathway to top universities in the UK and around the world.
IB DP (International Baccalaureate Diploma)
Students entering our Sixth Form may choose to pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP), a globally respected two-year qualification that prepares students for success at leading universities worldwide.
The IB DP requires students to study six subjects across a broad range of disciplines, including languages, sciences, mathematics, humanities, and the arts. In addition, students complete three core components: the Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). Ideally, students should have achieved at least a Grade 6 in the relevant GCSE subject. Where the subject has not been previously studied, a Grade 6 in both English and Mathematics is recommended to ensure readiness for the academic challenge. The IB Diploma fosters critical thinking, global awareness, and independent learning; key attributes for university success and beyond.
