Course Description:
Contemporary lit is a literature appreciation course that focuses on four books that have been written recently – two fiction, and two non-fiction, as well as newspapers and magazines. The emphasis of the class will be on relating each work to personal experiences. And you might be interested to know that the four books we read in class are equivalent to 41 AR points!
“We all read ourselves and the world around us in order to glimpse what and where we are. We read to understand, or to begin to understand. We cannot do but read. Reading, almost as much as breathing, is our essential function.”
~Alberto Manguel from A History of Reading, 1996, Penguin.
