Meet Your Teacher

About Mrs. Ramer:

I grew up in Grandview and graduated from Louisa-Muscatine High School in 2009. During high school, I participated in basketball, softball, track, cross country, student council, National Honor Society, band, color guard, and 4H. After high school, I went to and graduated from Iowa State University in 2013. At ISU, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English Secondary Education. After college, I subbed in the Cedar Rapids area and coached Girls Basketball at Springville High School. Then, I got a job at Dunkerton High School (near Cedar Falls) teaching junior and senior English for two years.

This is my 11th year at L-M and I play a lot of roles.  I am the Co-National Honor Society Sponsor and Assistant Softball Coach.  In my spare time, you will see me running, playing sports, spending time with family and friends, and running my own small business - B You Designs. I also have a daughter who was born in June!

About Dr. Peterson:

I grew up in Wayland, Iowa, and graduated from WACO High School.  After high school, I attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, where I participated in a year of study abroad in London.  At Central, I earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in English with an emphasis in writing and a minor in history.  After college I lived in Washington, DC and St. Louis, Missouri, before returning to the University of Iowa in 1997 to earn a master’s degree in teaching and English. In 2020, I earned my doctorate in language, literacy, and culture from the University of Iowa.

This is my twenty-second year at Louisa-Muscatine, and I like to say I have taught every English class we offer except 7th grade!  My passion is teaching writing.  The things I love about teaching and Louisa-Muscatine are many.  I can’t quite imagine being anywhere else.  I continue to believe that Louisa-Muscatine is on the cusp of great things!  I have always appreciated the support of the community, and am continually inspired by students, their writing, and their willingness to take risks.  I am also the National Honor Society co-sponsor at L-M which is a great chance to build relationships with students.

In my spare time, I live on a farm so my life revolves around my dogs, the garden and canning in the summer, fishing trips whenever possible, and spending time with my significant other, family, and trips to the Ozarks whenever possible.   Go Falcons!
