Hello Parents!
My name is Danielle Wilson; I will be your child’s second grade PREP teacher. This will be my 18th year assisting with Saints Peter and Paul’s PREP program. Second grade is a big year in PREP! I am excited to help guide your child through the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
I have three main goals for the year:
1. Prepare your child for First Reconciliation (first half of the year)
2. Prepare your child for First Holy Communion (second half of the year)
3. Help your child grow closer in their relationship with Jesus
There will be homework every week. My goal with the homework is not to be a time consuming task, but rather a quick activity/review to help spark conversation between you and your child, while reinforcing the lessons ideas.
I would ask in addition to weekly homework, you work with your child to help them learn their prayers (and the Mass). They should already know the Sign of the Cross, Glory Be, Our Father, and Hail Mary (all were learned in First Grade). In addition to being foundational prayers that allow us to pray as a community, they are often given as penance. The second grade prayers are the Form of Confession (which includes the Act of Contrition) and the Kyrie (Lord Have Mercy).
In addition to helping with PREP, my husband and I are raising two children (3rd grade and K) and I work a full time job. Please feel free to reach out via email (grade2d@sspeterandpaulrc.org); but, keep in mind, I am a volunteer.
I look forward to working closely with you and your child!
