This is our last class! :-( It was an honor to be able to teach your children!!! I hope this format worked for your students this year. I chose to do prerecorded lessons to make it more flexible for your first grader. I enjoyed creating my videos each week and I hope they did too! Have a wonderful summer and please practice the prayers we learned this year. And I'd definitely say the Act of Contrition a lot this summer to be prepared for Reconciliation next year!
Please watch above video and complete page 199!
An email was sent this week from Mari Lyons regarding the May Procession!
Have a great summer!!

In the video we discussed St. Therese of Lisieux: A saint that I very clearly remember learning about as a little girl. I encouraged the students to ask you or their grandparents to google or go to the library and read about her with you. She felt that she was not called to a big, brave thing, but rather little jobs which is called "the little way". She even wrote an autobiography called The Story of a Soul.
We also continued talking about the Holy Spirit.
Please continue saying the Our Father with your child. I also encourage you to begin saying The Act of Contrition to help your student be ready for Reconciliation next year! Simply saying it each night will help them!
Act of Contrition
O my God I am heartily sorry for having offended you and I detest all of my sins because of your just punishments but most of all because they offend you, my God who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of your grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin.
NEXT WEEK is the last class :-( Then you can attend the May Procession!

Special Visitor: My Stella! She demonstrates how to do our special art project today.
Materials needed are the following: a pencil, a few different colored pieces of construction paper (green should be one of them), scissors, glue and one dark marker. No worries if you don't have the construction paper: just use white and color with your crayons as I mentioned last week!
Above is my daughter's final piece. Just so the children get the idea!
Feel free to send me via email your child's stained glass cross or today's project! I'd love to see them! But of course no pressure!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
In an effort to assist in the monumental mission of protecting children, the Office for Child and Youth Protection and the Office of Catechetical Formation is partnering with you to present a safe environment lesson to your child who is attending as a virtual or at home learner.
It is our cherished role as adults to fully protect children. In addition, we must also teach children about their safety rights and boundaries, so that they have tools to protect themselves. What follows is information about the program itself and the resources available to you.
PLEASE NOTE: You are required to review, sign and return the attached Parent/Guardian Acknowledgement Form
Teaching Touching Safety Program Information:
Students attending Archdiocesan Parish Religious Education Programs review the KidTalk child abuse prevention lesson each year. In these classes, they learn how to identify situations in which an adult may try to take advantage of them and provide students with information on what to do and where to go for help.
This year since your child is attending virtually and/or at home, we are partnering with you in delivering this content, you can find more information at https://childyouthprotection.org/index.php/protect-children/trainings/kidtalk-overview
Additional resources can be found at the Office for Child and Youth Protection website at www.child youth protection.org. Following the lesson, we encourage you to continue reinforcing the message at home whenever possible.
I. LESSON FORMAT: Due to the current model of virtual and at home learning for Archdiocesan Religious Education Programs, we will be providing the lesson plan to you as the parent/guardian to present the information directly to your own child. You will receive the lesson electronically from your teacher along with any additional instructions on sharing this information with the child in your care.
II. ACKNOWLEGMENT/OPT OUT FORM: After a review of the child abuse prevention lesson, parents/guardians may opt out their child(ren) from the teaching of this lesson. You must sign the attached form for each child either indicating that you have taught the lesson or would like to have your child(ren) excused from this lesson.
Please return the signed form to Mari Lyons (mlyons@sspeterandpaulrc.org) in the PREP office.
III. CONTACT INFORMATION: For questions on presenting the lessons, please contact the Office for Child and Youth Protection at 215-587-2466 or via email at OCYP@archphila.org, or go to www.chilldyouthprotection.org under “protect children/resources for parents” for additional information and resources.
*If you are unable to print, sign and scan this form your typed name above will be considered your signature.
PLEASE RETURN THE COMPLETED FORM TO MARI LYONS: mlyons@sspeterandpaulrc.org
Thank you for your partnership with us to protect children and youth.

My name is Mrs. Salter and I'm excited to get to know you all! We will need to be creative this year but we can still have a fun time learning about God and how much he loves YOU!
I am a mom to three kids: Justin (12 years old), Samantha (10 years old) and Stella (4 years old) and I have a 15 year old CAT named Sugar Plum! She will definitely pop into my videos!
Before I had children I used to be a teacher! At one point I was a First Grade Catholic School teacher and it was my favorite grade to teach! So it has been a blessing to teach First Grade PREP since my 6th grader was a First Grader!
You can hop on here on your PREP day (Sunday morning or Monday evening) to check in and see what is happening for the week!
You can then watch video at that time and complete the assignments OR you can break it up and view during the week. This week I made one big video, but in the future I may make smaller videos based on topics being discussed! You can always pause video to complete written work or a coloring piece.
I'm doing my best to teach you in this new way but we will get our rhythm!!
See you in my video!
Mrs. Salter
I am so sorry that the videos are hard to open. I have spent hours trying to get them to work properly. This week I think I have mastered sharing them and getting them to open HOWEVER the video is longer than the last two so it's not processing properly. If you click on it and push download, download anyway, and then view. It will pop up.
REQUEST ACCESS IF VIDEO DOESN'T OPEN! :-) I HAVE MY GMAIL SET TO ALERT ME SO I CAN IMMEDIATELY SHARE ACCESS WHEN IM NOTIFIED DURING CCD HOURS. IF NOT DURING CCD HOURS I WILL DO MY VERY BEST TO SEE YOUR EMAIL AND SHARE ACCESS. IM SO VERY SORRY FOR THE TECH ISSUES!
