D0 you know that we don’t sing the Gloria or Alleluia During Lent?
In order to focus on what Jesus did for us by suffering and dying on the cross for us and as we await His Second Coming, we don’t say or sing the Alleluia and Gloria at Mass during Lent. Instead of singing with the choirs of angels, we acknowledge our sins and try to atone for our sins so we may once again experience the joy of worshiping God as the angels do.
Then at Easter, when the Gloria and Alleluia is sung again, it reminds us of the joy that was missing and that our Lord has risen; the Kingdom has come; our happiness is complete; and, in concert with the angels and saints, we greet the risen Lord with shouts of “Glory to God in the highest” and “Alleluia!”
