DIY: Make Your Own Mindful Breathing Jar
( aka. Glitter Jar / Calm Down Jar)

INGREDIENTS

  • A glass jar with a lid (16 oz mason jar with 2 piece lid recommended)

  • 1/2 cup glitter glue

  • Distilled water

  • Hot Glue Gun (or waterproof type glue)

  • 1–2 teaspoons metallic glitter (non-plastic)

DIRECTIONS

  1. After gathering supplies, pour 1/2 cup of distilled water into the jar.
    -
    Why distilled water? Unlike tap water, distilled water contains no contaminants or minerals and will help keep your glitter jars mold-free.

  2. Add about 1/2 cup of glitter glue (or clear glue into the jar)
    -It will take about 2 minutes for the glitter to settle in the jar - suggested to pause 2 minutes before moving on to the next step

  3. (optional if using glitter glue) Add 1–2 teaspoons of glitter to the jar.

  4. Fill up the remainder of the jar with distilled water to the ridge below the lid.

  5. Use a hot glue gun to squeeze a ring of glue around the lid of the jar. Press the lid onto the jar and secure it with the metal ring.

  6. Shake the jar well to distribute the glitter. Shake several times to evenly distribute the glue, glitter, and water.

    It will take several shakes and let it rest overnight to convince the glue to disperse completely. Shake again in the morning.

  7. Enjoy, and use as needed for stress, relaxation, or just for fun to watch the glitter settle again.
