An introduction into the language of business with a focus on the accounting cycle of an entrepreneurial service business.
Introduces the principles and processes involved in double-entry accounting systems. Some concepts such as: analyzing debits and credits, journalizing, posting to ledgers, worksheets, practical banking applications (cheques, reconciliation of bank statements), and EXCEL spreadsheets—will be used in the preparation of financial reports.
Recommended for anyone interested in pursuing a career in business and/or accounting. Learning can be transferred to apply to personal situations in everyday life including topics such as chequing accounts, expenses, income, profit, and net loss.

Students develop and apply an understanding of information processing to communicate, solve problems, and create products in a digital world.
It will help students to process information effectively and efficiently; make sound decisions about life choices and careers; and understand the interrelationship among individuals, the business world, and government.

Effective decision-making for expenses and saving for bigger goals.
Topics include budgeting, borrowing investing, strategic saving, and record management to help people determine and achieve their financial goals.

Second-year computerized and “hands on” accounting course designed to reinforce and enhance accounting principles and concepts of a merchandising firm.
Specialized accounting such as journalizing into special journals (cash receipts, cash payments, purchases, and sales) accounts receivable, accounts payable, posting to subsidiary ledgers, inventory, payroll, PST, and GST are included.
Students will learn about risks related to credit sales and about collection of debts. Partnership accounting is introduced. Business ethics and accounting standards contribute to discussions related to business decision-making.

Students deepen their understanding of information processing and will apply their knowledge and skills to communicate, solve problems and create products in a digital world.
Provides students with the opportunity to develop further the information technology knowledge and skills needed in the business world. Provides opportunities for practical project-based learning that can be used in personal and professional applications.

Third-year accounting course designed to reinforce and enhance accounting principles and concepts introduced in the previous accounting courses.
Introduction to managerial accounting and helpful to students who are considering accounting as a career.
Introduces the role of managerial accounting and how financial statements, and accounting practices assist with decision-making. Advanced levels of EXCEL are used for constructing graphs, preparing schedules of cost of goods manufactured, budgets, variance analysis, comparative income statements, and cost volume-profit analysis.

Focuses on seven areas of money management in everyday life: earning, saving, spending, borrowing, sharing, investing, and protecting.
Introduction to financial issues and decisions based around the value of money, importance of financial decision-making, budgeting fundamentals, the concept of interest, and many others.
Develops informed individuals with the habits, attitudes, and critical thinking skills necessary to approach financial decisions with competence.

Focuses on areas in a creative context: project management, digital citizenship and law, word processing, computer technology, spreadsheets, databases, and design, drawing, and painting.
Students will deepen their understanding of advanced information processing concepts, and will apply their knowledge and skills to communicate, solve problems, and create products in a digital world.
Provides students with the opportunity to develop and improve their essential skills in information technology needed in the workplace. They will develop their understanding of electronic business environments, improve their skills in electronic research and in using business application software in the preparation of business documents, as well as managing information.
