Performance Cues

The following performance cues (learning cues) are used in class to connect our minds with our body. The cues are age appropriate by focusing on the fundamental movement of the skills. The cues are a starting point and further extensions will be added as the learner progresses.

Ready Position (Athletic Stance)

  • Feet shoulder width apart
  • Knees slightly bent
  • Arms ready
  • Head up

Throwing

  • Sideways to target
  • Ball to ear
  • Step with opposite foot

Catching

  • Eye's on object
  • Fives out
  • Reach and pull

Kicking

  • Hop
  • Plant
  • Laces

S.P.K

  • Stop
  • Plant
  • Kick

Dribbling

  • Finger Pads
  • Waist Level
  • Head Up

Chest Pass

  • Toes to target
  • Elbows out
  • Numbers to numbers

Basketball Shooting

  • Toes to target
  • Elbow in
  • Up and through

Volleyball Bump Pass

  • Ready position
  • Fist to palm
  • Extend from knees up

Volleyball Set Pass

  • Ready position under ball
  • Diamond shape finger pads
  • Extend arms / hands upward

Volleyball Underhand Serve

  • Toes to target
  • Ball to hip
  • Opposite foot and up

Batting

  • Feet shoulder width apart
  • Knees bent
  • Dominant hand on top
  • Hands back
  • Eye on ball
