These 2-day workshops will give you the opportunity to explore and create using the apps built into the iPad. Our APL Specialist will walk you through the features of the apps, share how to use them with students, and walk you through experiencing them as a student so you know what to expect when implementing them in your classroom. You will walk away with ready to use ideas!
These 2-day workshops will take you on an immersive, in-depth experience to demonstrate ways that students can use their iPads as an integrated part of their learning journey.
What this workshop IS:
Interactive: This is not a sit and get session. You will be completing example activities as a student and given time to to reflect on how you could use this in your classroom.
Collaborative: You'll have the opportunity to work with other teachers throughout the workshop. We encourage you to sign up with some colleagues on your team / grade level.
iPad Focused: This workshop is student-focused, so we'll be spending most of our time on the iPad. However, we will demonstrate how you can use your MacBook in collaboration with the iPad, especially to create activities for your students.
What this workshop ISN'T:
How to Use Your Device: This isn't designed to teach you how to use your MacBook or iPad. You'll naturally learn how some of the apps work while going through the activities, but this is not meant as a tutorial on using your device.
An Extra "Thing" To Teach: The goal of this workshop is to promote ways to integrate the iPad into things you are already doing. It might be re-working an activity you currently complete, or desining a new learning activity for a specific lesson or activity. However, this isn't something that should be "added on" - we want it to be naturally embedded into your teaching.
If you decide to attend a workshop, we ask the following:
You commit to attending for the full 2 days from 8:00 - 3:00.
That's it! While there are many benefits to attending and opportunities for follow-up activities throughout the year, there's no other requirements!
These workshop opportunities are jam-packed with benefits for you, some of which include:
Ready-to-use activities you can take away from the session to use in your classroom.
Time to work on creating other activities to use.
A direct opportunity to learn from an Apple Professional Learning Specialist and hear the ideas they have seen in all of their classroom visits inside and outside of our district.
An opportunity to have and individualized coaching session with the Apple Professional Learning Specialist throughout the school year (see our APL Coaching page for more on this!)
A chance to network and collaborate with colleagues within your building and across the district.
Individualized and small-group support from your Instructional Technology Specialist throughout the school year!
Absolutely not! We consider these workshops part our our instructional coaching program at SGASD, and instructional coaching is ALWAYS non-evaluative. We typically let your building administrators know that you will be participating in these workshops and invite them to come see/participate in the workshops as well, but it is in no way tied to evaluations.
