Safety Measures

1. Know Emergency Procedures

• Be aware of the stop button’s location before operating the machine.

2. Keep Hands Safe

• Always hold material so that your hands won't come in contact with sanding surfaces.

• Always watch where your hands are positioned as you are sanding.

3. Set Up Proper Ventilation

• • Make sure the external fan is on, and set up each valve as shown in the demo video. 

Proper Use

1. Inspect Before Use

• Do not use the sander if the sandpaper is torn. Do not attempt to fix the machine if it is torn, instead notify a teacher. 

2. Use Proper Positioning

• On the belt sander, always butt the piece against the guard to control its position.

• On the disc sander, always sand on the left side to draw dust away from you.

3. Secure Your Grip

• Hold the material firmly so your hands stay clear of sanding surfaces.

4. Watch Hand Placement

• Always pay attention to where your hands are positioned while sanding.

5. Turning off Sander

• Stop the sanding belt before attempting to remove your piece.

Cleanup

1. Personal Protective Equipment

• Return all PPE to its designated area.

• Write your name on your dust mask and store it in your cubby future use.
