Garmin Women of Aviation Week: High School Hangar Days

High school students are invited to the Garmin hangar for free flights in a Garmin plane, flight simulation fun and tours of the hangar. Please feel free to explore signing up on your own; there will not be a formal field trip from SMNW.

Space is limited. A parent or guardian must sign liability waivers and returned to kelly.oconnor@garmin.com prior to the event. If you have questions, please contact kelly.oconnor@garmin.com.

STAHR Scholars Healthcare Program at UMKC - Application Due February 15, 2025!

Are you passionate about pursuing a career in healthcare? The Students in Training, in Academia, Health, and Research (STAHR) Scholars Program at UMKC is your pathway to success! This program supports underrepresented high school and college students who are interested in careers in medicine, dentistry, or other healthcare fields.

🎓 What You’ll Gain:


🗓️ Compensation: active scholars receive a stipend

📅 Program Dates: June 9 - July 18 (Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:00pm)
📍 Who Can Apply: 3.0 min GPA, Current 10th, 11th and 12th graders, from disadvantaged background



YEP Internship - Empowering Future Entrepreneurs! Application Due (UPDATED) February 17, 2025!


🗓️ Compensation: Students will receive a $2,500 scholarship ($1,250 per session)upon completion of the program and compensation of $12 per hour

📅 Application Deadline: February 1st, 2025

📅 Program Dates: (40 hours / week)--Students can apply for one or both sessions!

Session 1 (June 2nd - June 27th)

Session 2 (July 7th - August 1st)

📍 Who Can Apply: High school students that will have completed 11th or 12th grade

ProX Summer Internship (Any Career Pathway!) - Application Due March 15!

Looking for a summer opportunity to gain real-world experience and build your professional skills? The ProX Summer Internship is here to connect high school students with local businesses and organizations for hands-on, meaningful internships. This program is designed to provide practical learning experiences, mentorship, and a chance to explore potential career paths.

🗓️Compensation: $1250 stipend + 1.0 HS Elective Credit + MVA designation on transcript
📅 Program Dates: June/July, 5 Weeks (26 hours/week)
📍 Who Can Apply: Current 9-12 Graders (ask about transportation if needed)

The 2025 Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Kansas City Teen Academy application is now open for students to apply. This is a three-day immersive experience into the daily life at the FBI. Students who are rising juniors or seniors in the 2025-2026 school year (current sophomores or juniors in the 2024-2025 school year) may apply. The application includes a request for extra-curricular activities and an essay.

JE Dunn Construction Exploration Internship -- Application

This one-week summer internship offers rising juniors and seniors hands-on experience in the construction industry. Interns will explore JE Dunn’s business functions, tour job sites, engage in hands-on activities, and network with professionals. The program includes a final presentation on industry insights, career paths, and challenges in construction.

Eligibility:
✔ Rising juniors or seniors
✔ 2.5+ GPA, 90%+ attendance, no discipline issues
✔ Reliable transportation & full program commitment
