2 year program - designed to create a strong foundation for learning that promotes all areas of a child’s development within these four frames: Belonging & Contributing, Self-Regulation & Well-Being, Demonstrating Literacy and Mathematics Behaviours and Problem-Solving & Innovating.
The purpose of the program is to establish a strong foundation for learning in the early years, and to do so in a safe and caring, play-based environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of all children.
Children come to school every day and all day.
The teaching team consists of a Teacher and Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE).
We strive to provide an environment that supports learning through relationships, play, exploration and inquiry.
Faith Integration: Everyday children discover traces of God as they learn, make friends, play and celebrate together. Our teaching follows the liturgical year.
Alongside your teacher and DECE there may be an EA who you might see in your (your child’s) classroom.
An Education Assistant may or may not be in your class this coming year.
The Education Assistant is part of the teacher team in the classroom.
An education assistant, EA for short, is there to help with the smooth operation of day to day activities.
The EA may be assigned to a specific student or the whole class.
There are many things that an EA might do to help a student or your child, they include; making charts, giving reminders, helping a student prepare for things like assemblies, reteaching material, helping students interact with peers, assisting with personal care usually outlined in an IEP (Individual Education Plan).
Every day children discover traces of God as they learn, make friends, pray and celebrate together.
Rooted in Faith
At the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, we believe there is something unique and truly special about an education that is rooted in faith. Part of our distinctiveness is our commitment to fostering a strong relationship between your home, our school and your parish. There is also a wonderful sense of community in our Catholic schools – one that is bound together by faith, nurtured by a tremendously caring environment and is dedicated to exceptional learning.
We learn that we are created in God’s image.
The Religion Program In God’s Image celebrates the wonderment and awe alive in children, leading them into wisdom and allowing them to experience life as a trace of God.
