ParentSquare is the two‑way communication platform used by San Leandro USD and John Muir Middle School. It brings all school communications together in one place so you can:
Receive district and school messages via email, text or app notifications.
View newsletters, calendars and important documents.
Communicate directly with teachers or the school office in your preferred language.
Look for the invitation from John Muir Middle School – The school typically sends an invitation email or text. Click the link in that message to activate your account.
Register yourself – If you didn’t receive an invitation, go to the ParentSquare sign‑in page (parentsquare.com/signin) or install the ParentSquare mobile app. Choose “Register” and follow the prompts. Normally, upon activating new student's the Parent Facilitators will activate this for you before your student starts and help you navigate.
You can sign up using Google single sign‑on, an email address or a mobile phone number.
Important: Your email or phone number must match the contact information stored in Aeries Parent Portal. If ParentSquare doesn’t recognize your contact details, contact the school office so they can update their records or update your records through your Aeries Parent Portal. ( It takes 24 hours for new information to sync )
No invitation? You’ll still receive messages – Parents added by the school will automatically receive emails/texts from ParentSquare even if they haven’t registered. Registration is required to send messages back or to access confidential student documents and forms.
When you log in for the first time, ParentSquare will ask you to verify your contact information:
You will see “Action Required: Confirm Your Account Information” cards for your email, phone and each child.
Click Confirm Email or Confirm Phone. ParentSquare will send a verification code to that email address or phone number; enter the code in ParentSquare to confirm.
Review the listed children. Confirm that each child is yours and that the school affiliations are correct.
Click Yes, this is me to finish.
ParentSquare syncs with John Muir’s database. If something is incorrect—such as a wrong phone number or a misspelled name—you cannot change it yourself. You can either:
Suggest a correction in ParentSquare by going to My Account → Edit Account, then editing your email/phone and completing the new verification, or
Contact the school office so they can update the official records. After the district updates its records, changes will appear the next day.
If you ended up with more than one ParentSquare account (for example, you registered with both your email and phone separately), you can merge them:
Log in to your main ParentSquare account.
Click your name in the upper right, choose My Account, then select Combine with another account.
Follow the prompts to combine all accounts into one; after merging, you can sign in using any of your verified emails or phone numbers.
If you’re both a parent and a staff member, you can’t combine these accounts but you can switch between them from the account menu.
Language preferences – On the web version, click your name and select My Account, then Language Settings. In the mobile app, tap the menu (three lines), go to Account → Preferences → Language. Choose your preferred language and save.
Notification preferences – ParentSquare lets you control how often you receive messages. In Notification Settings, choose Instant (messages delivered individually) or Digest (messages grouped into one daily summary). You can turn off notifications for non‑urgent posts, but emergency alerts will always be sent.
If you can’t remember your password or never set one:
Go to parentsquare.com/signin and click Forgot password?
Enter the email address or phone number associated with your ParentSquare account and click Submit. ParentSquare will send you a link to reset your password.
Note: The reset link is only valid for 24 hours. If you do not receive the email or text, or if the link doesn’t work, contact your Parent Facilitators for assistance.
When registering, remember that you must use the same email or phone number that John Muir has on file.
If you need help signing up, verifying your information or changing settings, please contact John Muir Middle School’s ParentSquare administrator or Parent Facilitator. They can verify your contact information, reissue invitation emails or address any login issues.
