Clever is a secure, single sign‑on portal that SLUSD uses to give students and teachers access to all of their digital resources. The official Clever student/parent login guide explains that Clever lets students “log in once to access a world of learning” and that every resource shown in the portal has been selected by the child’s teacher or school.
Go to the SLUSD Clever login page – Open clever.com/oauth/authorize?district_id=slusd (or search for “San Leandro Unified School District” at clever.com/login if you forget the link). The page shows hints for Google login with the messages “Username hint: SLUSD District Gmail” and “Password hint: Your Gmail Password”. This means students and staff log in using their district‑issued Gmail account and password.
Choose your login method – The SLUSD Clever login page offers two options:
Gmail Teacher/Student Login – Click this button to sign in using your district Google account. After choosing the button you’ll be redirected to the Google sign‑in screen where you enter your school email address and password. Students should not sign in with a personal @gmail.com address.
Log in with Clever Badges – If your student was issued a Clever Badge (a QR code), click this option and use the device’s webcam to scan the badge.
Alternate login – Some districts use username/password or Active Directory rather than Google. If prompted to “Log in with Clever” (rather than Google), enter your student’s district username and password; if you don’t know them, contact your child’s teacher or the district help desk. Clever does not store or reset passwords, so any credential problems must be resolved by the school.
Find your school if needed – If you’re unsure of the district page, go to clever.com/login and type “John Muir Middle School” or “San Leandro USD.” Clever warns there may be multiple schools with similar names, so be sure to select the one associated with SLUSD.
Use the portal – Once logged in, your child will see a dashboard with applications like Schoology, Renaissance and other learning tools. Click an app icon to launch it.
Method - Google
Description - Sign in with SLUSD Gmail credentials
Key point - Use the Gmail Teacher/Student Login button; username is the student’s SLUSD Gmail; password is their Gmail password.
If you see a “Get help logging in” link on the Clever login page, use it to view backup login options or find contact information.
Contact SLUSD tech support – For any issues with Clever or other instructional apps, the district’s help desk page advises emailing support@slusd.us or tareservicerequests@slusd.us, or calling 510‑667‑6210 for immediate assistance.
Backup code – Teachers can generate a short-lived backup code for students who can’t log in; look for the “Log in with a backup code” option on the login help page.
By following these steps, John Muir Middle School families can understand what Clever is and how to access the portal using SLUSD credentials. If you run into any problems, reach out to your child’s teacher or the district’s tech support for assistance.
