Understand the program – SLUSD has updated its student Chromebook program so that every student now has an up‑to‑date device available in the classroom. Students are no longer required to carry Chromebooks back and forth to school.
Decide if you need a take‑home device – If your child needs a Chromebook for homework or at‑home learning, you may request one through the district’s “Optional Take Home Chromebook Checkout Agreement” form.
Access the request form – Go to the SLUSD technology checkout portal at https://techcheckout.slusd.us. Select Optional Take Home Chromebook Checkout Agreement. You’ll see a short explanation of the program and a student lookup section.
Locate your student record – Use the lookup tool to find your child. You can search by:
Permanent ID (Perm ID) and birthdate, or
First name, last name and birthdate
Enter the information and click Search. (You’ll be prompted to complete a CAPTCHA to continue.)
Complete the checkout agreement – Once you’ve located your student, the form will display their information. Review the details, supply any additional parent/guardian contact information and digitally sign the agreement. The form confirms that you understand the device is for educational use, you’ll take reasonable care of it and you’ll return it at the end of the school year. Submit the form. Repeat the process for each child who needs a device.
Watch for distribution details – The district notes that distribution will begin soon and each school will communicate pickup or delivery instructions
Need assistance? – If you encounter issues with the form or have questions, SLUSD’s tech support can help. For general technology support, email support@slusd.us; for materials requests email materialrequests@slusd.us; immediate assistance is available via phone at 510‑667‑6210.
By following these steps, you can ensure your student has a district‑issued Chromebook for use at home.
For Repairs, you'd go back to step 3, and select Take Home Chromebook Repair Request.
Locate your student record – Use the lookup tool to find your child. You can search by:
