Reflecting on the interconnected concepts of Literature, The Arts, Multimodality, and New Literacies and what we learned though the semester, it becomes evident that they wield a profound influence on our understanding of communication and literacy in the contemporary world. These ideas challenge conventional literacy definitions and underscore the imperative to adapt educational approaches to equip students with the necessary skills to navigate the intricate, multimodal communication landscape they inhabit. As an Educator, I bear the significant responsibility of disseminating knowledge and cultivating critical thinking. By providing access to these materials, I aim to instill in my students the resilience to face challenges, encouraging them to view setbacks not as obstacles, but as stepping stones toward growth. I also intend to include books on understanding grief in my classroom library. I approach this with an open heart, understanding that individuals may face grief at different times and in varying ways. These resources can serve as a compassionate guide, helping students comprehend that some of their peers may be going through a difficult time and may need space and understanding. While not everyone's journey is the same, the inclusion of these books underscores the importance of empathy, reminding students that a simple smile or gesture of support can make a significant difference in someone's life.
