Transition songs are important, and if they are singing they can't be talking

Helps them settle down
Gives them an idea on how long the transition is

Classroom Playlists are also important

Brainstorm:

before a history unit, you can introduce it by playing some music that was from that time, and have the kids look up the meaning of the song or answer what they think the song means. You can then use that as a starting point into the history lesson.
You can also have them sing their Muilting/ Dividing tables
You can help them learn science terms in songs like how the water cycle works or how a plant works. You can have them make a song that goes over it too.
