SLU IPE 4900 Community Partner
Links immigrants and refugees living in the St. Louis region to a range of programs and services for New Americans.
Student projects address this.
IPE 4900 team will create interactive mini-education sessions related to physical activity. Specific project topic will be discussed with Jen at initial site visit.
General Note regarding projects: Plan to create engaging teaching sessions that last about 15-20 minutes in length. Host multiple sessions a few times throughout the semester. The educational activities should be interactive and have limited text.
After School tutoring program provides support to children and teens on Tuesdays and Thursdays afternoon 4.45pm - 7.00pm. Students are primarily Congolese, Eritrean and Afgani.

Initial Site Visit: Tuesday, September 16 at 4pm (Cindy Matlock or Jessica Barreca will be present for initial meeting)
Where to Meet: Ask for Jen Janssen upon arrival
Parking: The entrance is in back. You can turn Bates and then right into the alley. There are parking spaces in back, but you can also use the front lot, and walk around, if all the back spots are full.
*** Remember it is the expectation for each 4900 student to make a total of at least 5 visits over the course of the semester. The after-school program runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 - 7pm. Every student on the team needs to make at least 5 visits. Plan these visits early in the semester and email a copy of the schedule to your faculty advisor and Jen!
