In an effort to ease the burden of cancer, the American Cancer Society provides free housing to cancer patients traveling to St. Louis for treatment.
Student projects address this.
Final Topic TBD at the initial meeting with Kristina however focus on nutrition and healthy eating for Hope Lodge Guests and their caregivers - create a recipe booklet and/or resource guide of different options in the area.
Students can participate in different opportunities at Hope Lodge which may include:
Bingo nights
Craft nights
Group clean ups around the lodge
Easy to make lunches and dinner nights
If any of the students sing or play instruments, we can do mini concert series
Chess or card nights
Lead sing-a-longs
Lead a baking or cooking class
*** Please note all students need to make at least 5 visits over the course of the semester. Talk to site coordinators at the initial visit to discuss potential options for site visits throughout the semester. If you encounter any challenges with visits due to scheduling, please contact Jessica to discuss alternative options.
Hope Lodge accepts patients with cancer and their caregivers who live 40+ miles from their treatment center.
Housing services, including laundry, and kitchen facilities.
Group events, including activities that support physical, mental, and cognitive health.
