Skills Builder Partnership’s mission is to ensure that one day, everyone will build the essential skills to succeed. Everything the Partnership does is geared towards making sure there are opportunities for everyone, from children to adults, and that the skills that are focussed on in education and reflected in opportunities in employment. Last year this resulted in well over 1 million opportunities delivered across 10 global contexts.
Skills Builder Partnership has focused on how to build essential skills rigorously for over a decade. In the process, the development of Skills Builder's award winning Universal Framework has made these skills teachable and measurable, with each skill broken down into 16 steps.
The aim is to share the approach with others to ensure there is a joined-up and consistent way to developing essential skills.

Why are essential skills important?
Essential skills unlock learning in the classroom, boosting academic outcomes, perseverance and self-belief. They halve the likelihood of being out of work, increase earnings across a lifetime, and improve wellbeing and life satisfaction.
But access to developing these skills isn’t fair, and where opportunities are missed, social mobility, productivity and wellbeing are undermined.
