What? Skills Builder Launchpad features online learning modules that provide learners with the opportunity to learn more about, practise and reflect on every step of the Universal Framework. It is designed for older learners to build their own essential skills independently.
Who? Individuals aged 11+ can register for free and start learning.
Where? Go to skillsbuilder.org/launchpad - Please note: to use this tool, you will be required to create an account.

Go to skillsbuilder.org/launchpad and click ‘Log in/sign up.’ Click ‘Account login’ and select ‘Not Registered? Sign Up here.’
Enter your email address. You will be prompted to enter your details and create a password. Top tip: Use the same login details you used for Benchmark.
You will be prompted to indicate if you are using the tool as part of your education, professional development or other.
Click ‘Register.’
From the homepage, search for a development need or browse one of our skill courses to begin building your own essential skills.
If you search for a topic, select a suggested module and click ‘View this Module’ to begin.
Alternatively, browse the skill courses before choosing a skill you would like to develop, view and select a step that interests you or click ‘Let’s get started.’
Modules can be completed in 10- to 15-minute bursts.
Identify key concepts and strategies related to the skill step. You can choose to watch a video, listen to a sound clip or read the text.
Practise the skill step with a choice of interactive offline and online activities.
Articulate your application and understanding of the skill step through written reflection or offline discussions with others.
Once you’ve finished a module, explore the options to find another module to work through.
Visit your personalised dashboard to revisit modules and see your progress through the courses or modules.
Download your Skill Profiles to share any written reflections with others. Use them to support applications, reviews or prepare for interview.
Share your reflections and progress regularly with a mentor or manager.
At agreed or regular intervals, remember to revisit the Benchmark tool to reflect on your progress against the Skills Builder Universal Framework.
When selecting a module, refer back to your Benchmark results to identify a focus skill or priority skill step.
As you work through the content of each module, think about how this relates to your current context.
Use the space in the 'Articulate' section to record examples of application and refer back to modules over time.
Can I use my Benchmark login details for Launchpad?
We encourage you to use the same login details for ease. However, this is a separate platform, so you will still need to register at skillsbuilder.org/launchpad.
How do the modules link to the Universal Framework and assessments on Benchmark?
Skills Builder Launchpad has a module to build every step of the Universal Framework. This is the same framework you will have assessed yourself against if you have used Benchmark.
How often should I complete modules on Launchpad?
This will depend on your setting and any guidance you might have received from others. However, it is important to build in regular opportunities to develop your essential skills and reflect on your progress with others.
Can I see the modules I have completed or reflections?
You can see this via your personalised dashboard and export your reflections in a PDF Skill Profile. You can also share this.
