Drop images, add notes, and pull assets directly from the web while collaborating with team members from anywhere.
Jamboard on your Laptop
A single Jam file lets you add additional boards. Just tap the right arrow at the top of the screen to add another board.
Keyboard Shortcuts work. Highlight an image you want to copy to another frame. Control C to copy and then move to the new frame and Control V to paste
Since Jamboard is a collaborative tool, you can add people to a Jam while it is open by clicking the Share button. People you invite will receive an invitation to join your Jam file. You can also export your Jam as a PDF (with each board in the Jam being a page in the PDF) or share a single board from your Jam as an image. Click on the 3 dots.
Jamboard offers four drawing pens and six different colours, along with a standard eraser.
You can insert images files or photos from your Google Drive into Jamboard. Browse your image files and select to insert into your Jam. Also available to insert to Upload images and Search Google Images.
You can modify board backgrounds.
You can select previous Jams to edit and amend (even those produced and saved from an actual physical Jamboard)
Google Jamboard and Google Meet integration, you can now create or open an existing jam while on a Meet video call. This digital whiteboarding integration means you can use the Jamboard virtually to host collaborative brainstorming sessions with your coworkers in real-time, even when you can’t be in the same room.
You’ll also be able to save, share and continue the whiteboard at any time with Jamboard.
Note, you can only start or open a Jamboard during a Meet call if you joined the call on a computer. Video call participants on a mobile device or tablet will get a link to a Jamboard file and be directed to the Jamboard app.
Available to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google accounts.
What's a virtual brainstorm? It's a discussion between members of a group who are working from different locations. The purpose of virtual brainstorming is to come up with new ideas and find resolutions to problems.
If you don't want to use the new integrated experience you can present your Jamboard in Meet by just using a Chrome Tab. Everyone in the meeting will just see your screen jam (no faces !)
Choose "Present to meeting"
Choose a Chrome Tab (Jamboard App) to present. Unlike when you present a static slide, people in the meeting will see your Jamboard live.
Then ask your colleagues, that you have shared the Jam with previously, to open their Jamboard App tab on their laptop. This will be the same as the screen you are sharing with them. They can then jam and collaborate with you and the boards will be real-time.
Group discussion is live as well because of the Meet app still running.
TIP: Split Screens if you and your colleagues want to see each other and the real-time jam at the same time. One Tab open is the Meeting and the other Tab open is the virtual jam side by side. How do you do this: use the minimise icon (top right of the screen next to the x) and then drag the open Jam Tab to the other side of the screen and adjust view accordingly. Example of Split Screen
It's this last feature that makes Jamboard immensely useful for organisations that use Google Workspace. The Jamboard apps give you access to an always-accessible collaborative whiteboard you can share with your team. It takes the whiteboard from the conference room and puts it into a device wherever you are. Works better with touchscreen laptops and a digital pen.
Update: Now, you can use many of these Jamboard features from your smartphone, too. The updated Jamboard phone apps for Android and iOS allow you to draw, add notes or images, and insert content from Google Drive, among other features.
