You can now find additional information about people within your organization, your Contacts, and people who email you in the Gmail side panel. Click the Discover More button to access additional details on this release into Google Workspace.
Organise, review, and merge your contacts. Create personal mailing lists. Quickly send messages to groups of people you contact the most, without entering their addresses individually. With Google Contacts, it’s easy to keep all your contact information in one place and reach several people at once.
You can see duplicates and easily manage your contacts
The sidebar lets you manage your contacts. You have various views to choose from. You can view the Groups you have created for Gmail and the Directory has been set up already by your IT Department.
You can see when Contacts has identified duplicate entries. You can choose to combine them if you wish.
Settings is where you can choose to list your contacts by first or last name.
Top of the window is a search bar where you can quickly search for a contact.
If your contact has a Google account any information they provide will be added to the contact. You can see there is a list of past conversations you have had with this contact. Clicking on a link within the interactions take you to that conversation.
Click on a name and their contact card will open. The contact has a google account their picture will be displayed next to their name, otherwise it is blank and you can upload a picture here.
You can click on the pencil which allows you to edit a contact, You can star it to say it is an important contact for you.
Highlight the three dots which gives you more information. Click X to go back to the main contacts.
Select to update an existing Label or Create a label
To add a contact into a Label, search for the Contact. Click on the 3 Dots and select the Label to add the contact to.
When composing an email, use the full name of the Label in the "To" line.
Google Contact Labels can only be used in Gmail and not the other apps of Google Workspace.
