Pink October

A sea of people wearing pink clothes filled the streets as they marched towards City Hall on a Wednesday afternoon. Despite the inclement weather, participants happily turned up to this event to demonstrate unity and support to breast cancer patients in Celebration of Pink October. The Pink October Celebration was jointly spearheaded by the Gender And Development (GAD) and the Local Council for Women (LCW). Pink October is an annual celebration intended to promote breast cancer awareness and to raise funds for research. The beneficiary of the fund-raising is the Oncology/Cancer Center of the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC).

Before the march started, people rendezvous at two places: Paseo Del Mar and Zambonga City Fire Station in Ledesma Street.From there they proceeded towards City Hall where a program called "Pink Dance Party at Sundown" will be held. " Pink Dance Party at Sundown" is a part of the activities lined up for the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival and it also serves as an opening for this grand festival. The Ceremonial Lighting of the City Hall with pink lights followed by Zumba Dance Party.

Seems like Pink October started off the month-long awaited celebration of the Grand Festival in Zamboanga with its theme "Levanta Con Fuerza y Fe; Marcha Con Allegria, Devocion y Unidad". This festval is in honor of the Nuestra Senora La Virgen fdel Pilar, the City's patron saint.
