Copa de Alcalde

Copa de Alcalde, also known as Torneo de Golf, is also a much awaited event for the Zamboangueños. The event is one of the highlights of the biggest festival in the city: The Zamboanga Hermosa Festival. The event showcases the people's interest for the sport, as well as their activity during the festival.

The Torneo de Golf is easy to interpret; as it literally means "The Tournament of Golf". The event is annually convened at the Zamboanga Golf Course Country Club( It is one of the oldest golf courses in the Philippines, established in 1910 when the country was still under the American territory) in Calarian and is usually held for two days; specifically on the 11th and 12th of October.

One of the best golf courses in Mindanao with 18- hole golfing plain with relatively flatter and straighter than the back nine that would give more challenge to the participants.

Though the same faces are seen as competitors every year, the victor of the said event is always unpredictable; given that the game itself, aside from skill, requires luck. But of course, that's what makes the event fun: The thrills. The winner is then announced after two days of playing and proving to everyone that his precision and accuracy is indeed the best.
