Miss Zamboanga

The Miss Zamboanga Beauty Pageant is an event that is annually celebrated by the Zamboangueños and is considered to be one of the highlights during the month-long Hermosa Festival being held in celebration of the feast of the city's patron saint in October. Zamboangueñas from different barangays situated within the city compete for the crown and the title of Miss Zamboanga.

The event is no joke; but it indeed offers a lot. Women who take interest in competing in the said event should not exceed the range of 16 to 25 as their age. They shall also be subjected to undergo screening; and those who qualify shall be in the official list of candidates. The candidates would then undergo several photoshoots and would have a meeting with the government officials regarding some matters in the event. The candidates would also have a Swimsuit competition; where the date is scheduled differently from that of the Coronation Night. The candidates that make it that far are really eager to grab the crown and win the title. Minor awards are also given to the candidates; and the sponsors of the pageant would also be giving awards. On the other hand, the major awards of course would also be given. These include Most Photogenic, Best in Long Gown, People's Choice Award, Best in Production Number and Best in Swimsuit. Before the announcement of the top 5, all contestants shall answer a question first. The outcome would then be added to their over-all score.

Whoever wins the pageant will be crowned as Miss Zamboanga; though the Top 5 would be part of the float parade during the Baile de Festival.
