Rift - Souls

"What is this soul system in Rift?"

There are 3 classes .. warrior, rogue, and cleric

Each of the 3 classes gets to choose between any combination

of 3 souls to choose from that is relevant to their class. A cleric

cannot use a warrior soul though in case you were wondering,

each soul belong to one class only.

Over time you will quickly collect all the souls available for your

class to pick and choose from for the 3 you will use at any one

time.

Each soul represents a style of defensive or offensive skills.

You can choose different combinations of 3 of them in the future

for a small financial cost, you aren't making a permanent choice.

For example, among clerics a Justicar soul is very tankie

for a cleric. The inquisitor soul for clerics is about single target

dps. And of course there are defensive healing souls that are

very different from each other. Those are some examples.

"What are roles?"

You can have up to 4 roles (you purchase each one over time)

with each one having some combination of 3 souls. You can

switch between roles (out of combat) anytime. Thus you can

switch from a dps mage to chloro mage, etc., as needed by

the group. You can change the soul content of each role at

any time.

"When do I get all my souls to choose from?"

You will quickly get your first souls. After those you will need

soul quests from Sanctum (or mage ones from Ardent Glade)

where for each quest you get a new soul as a result. The

opportunity to add souls to your first ones begins at lvl13 if

memory serves.
