Most guilds out there in Warhammer, and most everywhere else, compare themselves
by size or some general understanding of zerg power. However, if you are lookin' around,
here is a guide to the differences that really matter that you might want to keep in mind.
1 The Easy-Living Guild
So you cannot commit yer life to the game. In mah experience most folks are as such.
Well then, when the uber guilds come calling, say no thank you. If yeh don't, folks will
talk about how "inactive" yeh are and basically you'll be in the wrong home. In
Warhammer, in fact, if yer in a guild and not particularly active, then you will slow down
guild advancement.
2 Uber Guild: Quid-Pro-Quo and Time Suckage
Over the years ah have belonged to powerful guilds that expect basically two things
from yeh. Fer one, a real commitment of time to help everyone else get things, too.
This can mean running the same instance for months, often with little challenge other
than "following" skeelz.
If someone in the guild helps you do something you need to be ready to return the favor.
If you are expected to be there at 9P, you better be there or you might not get invited
again.
Alts, your new characters, that you don't play too much, and especially your mules,
those characters that just hold things, are often asked not to be in the guild to help
guild stats and advancement.
These guilds are fairly aggressive, know what they want, and keep folks that provide
what they need. They have been around a while usually and as such you're a new
comer, a name among many names, one of many of those with yer skills.
Uber guilds are sometimes run by very serious people who are not always terribly
fun to have around. The "game" part of a game can fade and the "work" part of the
game can get emphasized. If the guild does mostly closed events you will not meet
as many new people as all those hours will be with the same people.
You'll get gear faster, which is not as critical in WAR, and you will be expected to
sacrifice your time for the cause.
3 The Heavy RP Guild
Self-explanatory. If yeh enjoy roleplaying, be sure to ask whether folks roleplay
much in the guild. That the guild is a "roleplay guild" doesn't tell you enough,
you need to confirm if it's not enough, too much, or just fine with you.
