Discussions about wp specifications (salvation vs. grace vs. wrath)
usually, but not always, take one of two forms:
- Listing of ALL the spells level-by-level for each spec (too much info)
- Quick, useless stereotypes that miss useful detail.
Laced with opinion, here is mah best effort so far to strike a middle
ground. Let me know whatchya think and ah'll try to improve it to yer
liking.
Primary Wrath
The major potential benefits of a primary wrath spec are
in mah opinion, in order of what's defining and useful to someone
who would choose to be primarily wrath spec:
(1) More damage output. No science here but I've heard on a scale
from 1-10, 10 being slayer, wrath wp output is in the 6-7 range.
Now mind you, that's a meleer that can divine assault melee healin
which should make WE's and other non-tank targets cry in their
restoration pots.
(2) Four different melee strikes available to all wps do more damage
(3) A melee power called hammer of sigmar, often overlooked, which
can add significant damage to the injured enemy.
.. and possible as secondary spec, too, when primaried in another spec...
(4) Increase crit melee by 15%, which would matter a lot to a
melee wp like the wrath wp.
(5) The automatic group buff that helps others do a little more damage,
an alternative to the armor or automatic heal, is higher.
(6) A tactic to raise the slow-upon-strike-if-cursed melee hit to a
longer duration and makes it a 20ft AOE.
(7) A melee strike that reduces healing to your target by 25%. The
bw effect is much more powerful in that it is at a distance and greater
reduction, but can help break the back of a tough target.
Wrath wps aren't trying to be slayers with healing skills, nor slayers
in armor. They are serious meleers who have given up some of their
healing prowess in order to help debuff and dps down the enemy.
Clearly if slayers could heal there would be a revolt, and so wrath wps
are never allowed to become true melee dps. The ability to heal, though,
especially with melee divine assault, is a powerful defensive tool. Think
of the wrath wp as a classic composite class.
w/Grace Secondary
To me the more interesting grace-as-secondary benefits for the primary
wrath wp are:
(1) Four more of the melee strikes do more damage.
(2) A buff upon a melee strike now gives toughness of 100ish to one
target, and its strength benefit rises to 100ish, too. Wrath wps live
for toughness, and the strength benefit is nice, too.
(3) An increase in the automatic group heal benefit that heals group
a bit when they do damage a % of the time, 20%ish inc from spec.
(4) A tactic to ensure the automatic group heal benefit also has a
chance to heal the wp, as well.
w/Salvation Secondary
(1) Higher instant burst dot and group healing
(2) Higher armor group buff
(3) The option of a little additional group damage absorption
capability
(4) The option of raising the single target debuff cleanse to
a group-wide benefit.
(5) The option of a light group heal dot that combined with 3rd
party add-ons makes it easy to see who is within 100ft.
If you spec into wrath there's a real good chance you are a dps wp, and so
I'm throwing this in here.
DPS WP Most Common Tactics
Here are some of the most common tactic DPS-options:
- Fanaticism 15% crit melee
- Guilty Soul Additional dot when you hit a crit with wrath dps
- Cleansing Power Purge entire group at a time - A reason DPS wps
often invited into some instance groups in the first place
- Hastened Divinity Crit hit will increase autoattack speed by 50% for 10 secs
- Subtlety Autodetaunt, you will often loose one slot to this to survive
in instances.
DPS WP Most Common Morale
- Divine Replenishment Everytime a groupmate within 100ft hits destro they get
50AP added.
DPS WP Armor & Weapons
- Invader Until you get top gear this can get you deep into melee
WP dps territory.
- Lightbearer Fist 2-hander
