Worthing League Suspension of 2019/20 Season

The email below from Worthing League Chair Don Pollard signals a premature end to the season. (They think it’s all over, it is now!)

“For obvious reasons our season was brought to an unexpected conclusion and it left matters in the air, particularly as far as divisional winners were concerned. As the majority of the season had been played the committee decided that we should award divisional winners and as far as Division 1 was concerned that was an easy decision – Woodlands A were runaway leaders.

Divisions 2 and 3 were more difficult to decide. In each case the division had a team leading by a small points advantage, but both teams in second place had a game in hand.

Using a system of aggregating and/or averaging the scores the following decision was arrived at:

Division 2 ends with 2 teams sharing top spot and Division 3 has an outright winner.

The results are as follows:-

Division 1: Winners:- Woodlands A and Runners-up:- West Chiltington

Division 2: Joint winners:- West Worthing A and Woodlands D

Division 3: Winners:- Lancing E and Runners-up:- Woodlands H

The committee also decided to postpone the President’s Cup final between Steyning D and West Chiltington and it is hoped this can be played at or around the start of next season on a date to be decided.

The committee also decided not to run our usual Invitation and Trophy presentation evening this year. Divisional trophies will be presented on a date to be decided.

This is not the end to the season we would have wished for, but your safety and well-being is our priority. Stay safe and keep well until we can all meet again next season.

Regards

Don Pollard (Chairman)"

28th March 2020

Note: This was the points situation when the league was stopped.

Division 1: Woodlands A - 165, West Chiltington - 115 points

Division 2: West Worthing A - 125, Woodlands D - 118 points (game in hand)

Division 3: Lancing E - 128, Woodlands H - 121 points (game in hand)

Worthing League Suspension (Temporary)

Message from Phil Keene

Don Pollard, the Chairman of the League's Executive Committee has made the announcement below.

Will team captains please ensure this message reaches all members of their team who are not on email. We shall keep you all posted as we move towards the 2 week deadline.

I expect to issue further communications regarding Social and Practice play later today so would appreciate not being inundated with questions at this time. Thank you.

Kind regards

Phil Keene

15/3/2020

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE FROM DON POLLARD. THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO AN EMAIL SENT BY DON TO WORTHING LEAGUE COMMITTEE MEMBERS CANVASSING THEIR OPINION AS TOO WHETHER LEAGUE PLAY SHOULD CONTINUE IN LIGHT OF THE CURRENT CORONAVIRUS SITUATION.

Dear All,

Not everyone (Clubs) has replied to my earlier message but I have had sufficient replies to give a majority view that we should err on the side of caution and suspend all league activity forthwith.

How long the suspension lasts will depend on how the situation develops but initially it will be for a period of 2 weeks. It may of course be longer than that.

Don Pollard

Chairman

Worthing & District TTA

09/03/2020

There will be NO social or league table tennis at The Woodlands Centre this week due to the Rustington Players putting on their performance of Cheshire Cats.

If your league team is playing away let’s have lots of away day match reports.

West Worthing A Woodlands E

The Div Two title hopes for second placed Woodlands D were given a boost by Woodlands E who beat the league leaders last night 7-3. Illness to Andrew Kerkhove caused him to retire during his second match against Spencer Wells having lost to Simon Long in the first match of the evening. In normal circumstances this would have been a superb win for Simon. Andrew's final match against Phil Keene was not played. The Woodlands dominance was only resisted by Andrew Gifford, who won two, but was defeated by Phil Keene. Phil came away with a (technical) treble, Simon Long two and Spencer two. WW won the doubles. We wish Andrew Kerkhove a swift recovery.

Phil Keene

Lancing A Woodlands B

Woodlands B went east in search of league points at Lancing A in Div One. They came away with eight of them with Lancing’s Tom Tobias winning the Lancing points.

Andy Foster continued his recent form with three wins. He beat Tom Tobias in five, Andy Cooper in four and Ray Forder in three. Ian 'Shaggy' Burgess won two and should have beat Tom Tobias but for his 'devil may care' attitude. Chris Baker was steady, with his side-spin winning two.

Andy 'don't mess with me' Foster after he had 'buried' his opponents
Ian's Cha-Cha-Cha is nearly as good as his table tennis

Do You Serve Within The Rules????

Whilst this message is primarily directed at League players, it does also apply to our Social players. At a recent Worthing & District Table Tennis Association (W&DTTA) Committee meeting, the age-old gripe of "foul serving" cropped up again. Sometimes foul serving doesn't give the server an advantage, but sometimes it does. So to avoid any contentions, all you have to do is to serve "properly" within the rules. For this purpose I've attached a link below for you all to see. It may take a little while for it to open, but persevere because it explains it all much better than I can.

In the meantime, Sue West, Hon. Gen Secretary of the W&DTTA has asked that Team Captains watch for, and correct, any member of their team who infringes the serving rules. Next season we'll be asked to watch this more closely so it's better to get into the correct habit now and avoid potential issues later. Essentially, all you have to do is to throw the ball straight up, six inches or more, from an open palm, leaving the ball in your opponents' sight at all times - relatively simple isn't it, so let's ensure we do it "properly" hereafter.

02/03/2020

Tables available for practice this week are as follows:-

Tuesday 3/3/2020 - 3 tables available

Thursday 5/3/2020 - no tables available

Please Note:

The early session runs between 5pm and 7pm. In fairness to our social players could members of those teams who are playing in league matches not arrive at the hall until after 6.45 at the very earliest. Thank you.

Coronavirus / Covid-19

It has been suggested that in order to help reduce the spread of viruses you may wish to decline shaking hands at the end of a match. There is no problem with this, but it would be polite to inform your opponents that this is your policy before commencing a League match. Please wash your hands after a match.

Woodlands C West Chiltington

With 4 league games being played at the Woodlands venue it became a predictably noisy affair with Div 1 Woody C playing host to W Chiltington. W Chiltington are the France Rugby team of the TT world as you never know which W Chilt will turn up. The home team were boosted by the form of Tony Holmes who won 2 games, supported by Chris Newberry 1. For the opponents Erik Van Mol won his 3 and Bron Budka won 2. Kirk Reed won 1. Final score: Woody C 4-6 West Chilt.

Report by Andy Foster from supplied scorecard.

Woodlands G Woodlands D

Woody D, the Div 2 Wannabe table-toppers, were hosted by Woody G at Woodlands last night. They came away with a 6-4 win and narrowly avoided a draw on the last two points of the night. Phil Aylward two, Craig Burgess two, and Dave Wicks (reserve) one. The fly in their ointment was James Pettigrew, the G captain. No matter how many times they hit the ball over the net, it came back to them. James played out of his skin to take a well-deserved treble, assisted by Simon McAlister (1) and John Kealey.

James Pettigrew (AKA 'The Many Returns Kid')

Woodlands B Lancing B

With only one game being played Tuesday night at The Woodlands Centre, Woody B and their visitors Lancing B provided the entertainment in Div One. Ian Burgess and Andy Foster helped the home team to a 8-2 win with trebles and Kris Pokorowski with one. Kris was playing his first game after a two month illness but soon found his feet with a doubles victory.

The 'shy and retiring' Les Hopkins was played out of his skin, losing narrowly to both Ian and Andy in the 5th game 12-10 and 13-11 respectively. 'Mean and moody' Mehrdad Amani was a credit to his team throughout and was unlucky not to win more. Special mention to Barbara Bayford who remained to the bitter end orchestrating the hall “put away” procedure.

Below are treble winners Ian and Andy who are elbow bumping to prevent any spread of Coronavirus.

Woodlands A WIN Division 1 Of the Worthing League

History Is Made - The A Team Has Done It! Monday night the Club's A Team of Charlie Usher, Chris Angus and Alex Cumbers beat Lancing A 10-0, all 3 games straight. The Teams average score per match during the season was an amazing 9-1 - not bad!

The maximum closest rivals West Chiltington can achieve from their remaining games is 159 points which is not enough by a mile. The A Team has won Division 1 with 164 points, and 3 matches still left to play. Its the first time in its history that the Club has won the Division 1 title.

Congratulations to Glyn Hydes (Captain), Charlie Usher (Vice Captain), Chris Angus, and Alex Cumbers. A job well done.

Lets hope the Club goes on to win Divisions 2 and 3 also.

A Team: Glyn Hydes (C), Charlie Usher, Chris Angus, Alex Cumbers (lower)

Steyning B Woodlands G

Woody G (John Kealey, James Pettigrew, James Hanson) had a bright start in their away match to Steyning B and led 2-1 after 3 sets and appeared to have the momentum. But then Steyning B dug in like an Alabama tick and remembered why they are three places up the table.

Christian Jarrett was unbeatable, although Kealey pushed him to 5 games. Hanson and Pettigrew survived tense individual battles with Peter Hunt and Alan Barwick, respectively, and both came away from the night with two wins. A 4-6 loss, but Woody G showed their mettle.

24/02/2020

On Tuesday there will be 2 tables available for league players to knock and improve their skills after 7pm. On Thursday there will be 1 table available after 7pm.

Let’s have lots of match reports this week and let the world know what we are doing.

Woodlands D Steyning B

Woodlands D did their Div Two chances a power of good with a 10-0 victory over Steyning B last night at the home of table tennis, The Woodlands Centre. Before the night started they were 6 points behind league leaders Worthing A, but with the maximum victory, they are now 4 points behind following an 8-2 win for Worthing A. Dave Wicks, Phil Aylward and Paul Dukes, all with trebles.

Woodlands G Lancing D

Woody G had a tough fight against rivals Lancing D, but lost 3-7. The team was James Hanson, Anne Rozario, and Simon McAlister. Some close games and a smasheroo to finish as McAlister walloped balls past Eddie Pullen - very enjoyable. McAlister took two, Hanson took one.

Woodlands B Woodlands A

I’m no mathematician, but I think the 8-2 win by Woody A against Woody B on Tuesday eve was probably enough to contact Stagecoach and order the open top bus in preparation of the league winning celebrations.

Chris Angus returned a treble, Charlie Usher two, and Glyn Hydes two. The only blip for the champions was Andy Foster who won the two games for the B’s.

Chris Angus swallowed a treble
Doubles action B on A

Woodlands E Woodlands F

On the opposite table there was a Div Two Woody clash with the E and F team taking points off one another allowing Woody D to secure a second place spot for a week.

A convincing treble by Simon Long, a solid two from Phil Keene helped the E team over the line with a 6-4 victory. Peter Boyd-Leslie won two for the F team.

Doubles action Woody E and F

17/02/2020

This week there will be one table available for practice after 7pm on Tuesday and two tables available after 7pm on Thursday.

West Chiltington Woodlands B

Sport can be a cruel master/mistress at times. Woody B went into the wilds of soggy West Sussex in search of a victory at West Chiltington.

That victory was not forthcoming with W Chilt winning the battle for second spot 7-3. They jump from 3rd to 2nd by ONE point. The scorecard says Scott three, Van Mol three and a doubles victory. It could have been a different story.

Game of the night was Erik Van Mol v Andy Foster with Erik defending two match points finally winning 13/11 in the 5th. Baker, Burgess and Foster finished with 1 apiece and it was only Bron Budka who failed to score with his recent spell of great form deserting him.

It needs to be said that it was a most convivial evening.

Woodlands A Woodlands C

One of the many Woody v Woody clashes occurred last night, but this time it was in Division One, where A played C. League champions elect, Woody A, won the game 9-1, but once again there is a back story.

Charlie Usher won three but was pushed to five games by Tony Holmes 13-11 in the 5th, and by Chris Newberry 11-8 in the 5th. Chris Angus returned after a brief injury (involving 'falling off his wallet') and was back to his winning treble norm.

Chris Newberry of the C team took on the left handed, ever upbeat, Glyn Hydes. Chris played out of his skin and beat Glyn 11-7 in the 5th.

This was a re-scheduled game played in advance of Woodlands Hall not being available week beginning 11th March.

10/2/2020

Table Availability

There will be one spare table available after 7pm on Tuesday and two spare tables after 7pm on Thursday.

West Worthing A Woodlands G

Woody G travelled to West Worthing hoping for a repeat draw but were disappointed to go down 3-7. Several sets went very close in five games, but luck and table edges went against them on the night.

Scorecard error: James P won 2, John K 0

Woodlands A West Chiltington

On a night that should have been one to remember the top of the table clash in Div One between Woody A and West Chiltington turned into a bit of a damp squib. Woody A fielded a weaker team with Andy Foster, who failed to impress, taking the place of Chris Angus who has a knee injury. The rumour is that Chris fell off his wallet!!

Below is the scorecard that says 5-5.

'Gritty' Glyn Hydes two, serene Charlie Usher two, with Rory Scott winning three for W Chiltington.

Woodlands F Steyning B

On a lighter note, in Div 2 Woody F beat Steyning C 8-2. Dave Wicks starred for Woody, winning three, supported by Paul Prior (two) and Peter Boyd-Lesley (two). Paul Prior told me Dave Wicks was superb in his five game win against David Weir, who must have been in need of oxygen as all his games went to five.

Woodlands H Steyning D

In Div 3 Woody H beat Steyning D 7-3. Dave Richardson two, Luda Hedger two, and Trevor Henson two. Luda and Trevor won the doubles.

Steyning B Woodlands B

Woody B travelled to Steyning hoping that they can continue their winning run. They ground out a 9-1 victory with Chris Baker three, Andy Foster three and Ian Burgess two. David Culmer won the one for Steyning, but a special mention must be given to James Anderson who took games off Baker and Foster.

Action shot of 'Shaggy' Burgess who was trying his best to smash every ball to all parts of the hall.

Steyning B Woodlands E

Meanwhile on the other table at Steyning were Woody E. The team consisted of Simon Long, Joanne Hanson and Phil Keene. Julie Long was also in attendance ready with words of advice, a damp towel and night nurse sachet for a lurgy ridden Simon.

The Rustington team lost 6-4 with Simon winning two and one apiece for Joanne and Phil.

3/2/2020

Woodlands F Woodlands G

Match report from Team G from last week, James Hanson writes

"Fabulous match. 8-2 looked like an easy ride for F, but it was fought tooth and nail all the way and felt much more like 6-4. Really good to see our recent training and coaching showing in our game play.

Loved it."

Woodlands A Lancing C

On Tuesday evening champions elect Woodlands A extended their points margin to 52 points. With a ten-nil victory against Lancing C the A team were only troubled when David Churcher took a game off Chris Angus. Angus, Usher and Hydes, three apiece.

Lancing B Woodlands B

In a rearranged game Woodlands B traveled to Lancing B on Monday night. Player of the night was Chris Baker who won three and enabled Woody B to get a 6-4 victory. Andy Foster won two and Ian Burgess and Foster won the doubles.

Chris 'Treble' Baker

27/1/2020

Lancing B Woodlands A

Lancing B were hit by the whirlwind of Woody A on Monday night. Table toppers made merry with a 10-0 smashing. Champions elect were able to rest Chris Angus and there were trebles for Charlie Usher, Glyn Hydes, and Alex Cumber. Mike Yung-Hok said goodbye to his 100% record for the season.

Table Availability

There will be 2 spare tables on Tuesday evening after 7pm and 1 spare table on Thursday apres 7pm.

Woodlands B Woodlands C

Tuesday night belonged to Ian 'Shaggy' Burgess playing for Woody B in a derby match against Woody C. A superb treble for the Littlehampton Postie together with a doubles success saw Woodlands B win 7-3. In a match that could easily have swung to the away team the Burgess bat was far too much for the Newberry, Holmes and Barnes opposition.

Speaking after the game Burgess said “I found my old bat in a carrier bag at home so I thought I would give it a go”.

Ian 'Shaggy' Burgess wearing the Woodlands B away kit.

Woodlands D Woodlands F

There was a ding dong at the ping pong last night as Div Two Woody D played host to Woody F. Woody D were the victors with an 8-2 win but the score line only tells half the story. Four matches went the distance with the pick of them being Phil Aylward v Paul Prior.

Phil won the first game 17-15 and from then on it was time to put the kettle on, sit back and watch the entertainment. Phil took the only treble of the evening and those 8 points may prove vital in the promotion push.

Phil 'the treble'

Jon Roberts and Peter Boyd-Leslie in Doubles action

Woodlands F Lancing D

Woody F had their game against Lancing D and had a very good 9-1 victory in Div Two; Ken Line and Peter Boyd-Leslie winning three and Jon Roberts two.

Woodlands E Steyning C

Woodlands E had a comfortable win against Steyning C in Div2. It was 9-1 to the home team with Spencer Wells three, Phil Keene three and Joanne Hanson two. The game Joanne lost was a nail biter losing 11-9 in the 5th.

Woodlands B West Chiltington

There was a rearranged Div 1 clash between Woody B and West Chiltington. Kris Pokorowski failed a late fitness test and a hastily rearranged team of Burgess, Baker and Foster paraded on the table. All won one with trebles for the opponents Eric Van Mol and Rory Scott. Woody B lost 7-3.

Table Availability

On Thursday there will be 4 tables available after 7pm for practise BUT please be there by 8pm as the premises will be locked and in darkness should no one arrive by that time. If you intend to attend on Thursday please respond to Phil Keene's electronic communication.

13/1/2020

Steyning C Woodlands D

A late result in from this week with thanks to Lawrie Skews, the Woody D team travelled to Steyning C and took a maximum victory: Craig Burgess three, Phil Aylward three, and Paul Dukes three.

Lancing hosts Woodlands

It was like a Woodlands away day at Lancing this evening with Woody B, C and I all in action. Woody B won 9-1 with Baker and Foster winning three.

Woodlands C beat Lancing A 6-4; Chris Newberry two, Tony Holmes two, and David Barnes one. A treble from Lancing’s Tom Tobias.

Lancing E beat Woody I team 2-8, with Mike Boocock beating James Smart in a five game thriller 16-14 in the 5th and Jake Freeman beating James Smart 12-10 in the 5th.

Woodlands A Steyning A

Woody A nearly broke into a sweat while beating Steyning A in quick time. It was a regulation 10-0 for the South Coast Table Toppers. Chris Angus, Charlie Usher and Glyn Hydes were the victors.

Table Availability

Thursday night there will be two spare tables after 7pm.

Woodlands A Lancing A

Four league games were being played at Woodlands on Tuesday night. If anyone wanted a sign of the popularity of table tennis it was staring them in the face. Woodlands A played Lancing A .

Woody A swept their opponents away like the gale force winds that were blowing outside. It was a 10-0 win. Charlie Usher, Chris Angus, and a well rested Glynn Hydes, all getting trebles. There are rumours that Hydes purchased a round of drinks afterwards!

Woodlands Roundup

Woodlands F played West Worthing A. Sadly, Woody F were on the wrong end of a 1-9 defeat. Dave Wicks won the one.

The result of Woody D v Woody E and Woody H v Lancing E have yet to appear on the vidiprinter. What I can say is that Spencer 'fashion icon' Wells, discarded his red shorts for a black pair.

It was also good to see Dave Richardson playing for Woody H, bearing in mind this is his busy time of year as a helper for a rotund chap in the North Pole!!

02/12/2019

Woodland B Woodlands A

Once the dust has settled Woodlands B will be wondering if their match preparation was correct. Burgess went on a winter training camp in Barcelona, Pokorowski went and had a bath, Foster spent the morning of the match at Goodwood Race Circuit watching cars go round. It clearly wasn’t the correct preparation if the 10-0 defeat was anything to go by against high flying Woodlands A. They were just too good.

Woody A brought in the big guns with Alex Cumbers making appearance whilst Glynn Hydes was rested. Charlie Usher did enough in each game to quietly be victorious with only Kris Pokorowski taking him to five and Chris Angus was brilliant as ever. Alex Cumbers was only troubled when Andy Foster went two games up. Foster then choked and Cumbers took the next three.

25/11/2019

Woodland E Woodland F

In Division Two there was another local derby being played with the E team playing the F team. The E team of Simon Long, Joanne Hanson and Spencer Wells all won two in their 7-3 victory.

Dave Wicks, of Woody F, was player of the match, with a superb treble winning a ding dong match in five against Long. Hanson won a great game against Jon Roberts using a secret weapon, and Wells won the fashion competition of the night with his gorgeous red shorts, and I mean gorgeous.

18/11/2019

Woodland G West Worthing A - The Greatest Match Ever

On Thursday underdogs Woody G scalped the strongest team in Division Two, West Worthing A, and arguably, produced the greatest match the G have played over their fifteen months as a team, with all contributing to a great success.

G team captain James Pettigrew played against Rudi Dharmalingham and had a very slow first two games, and then remarkably fought back to win the match before Dharmalingham had got his big loop going consistently. The next three matches went against Woody G, but captain Pettigrew pulled out another against Andrew Gifford, and with nails bitten, won the match in a five game thriller.

Anne Rozario then played Andrew Kerkove, who was top of the Division Two rankings, and this was the greatest game of the night. Rozario lost the first two games, but switched into 'Tiger Mode' for the third, remarkably reading Kerkove's game superbly in the remaining three games, with powerful forehand shots to win her first match of season.

Inspired by this, Simon McAlister did the same against Andrew Gifford and won out in five. The last two games went against Woody G.

In the doubles, Pettigrew and McAlister played against Kerkove and Dharmalingham. Woody G had no idea how to win that match, as the first two games West Worthing A took comfortably.

In the third game however, Woody G had a chance and took it. West Worthing A were 10-8 up and only needed one more point to win but Woody G somehow fought back with two points to level 10-10 and go on to win 12-10. West Worthing A suffered a loss of confidence and Woody G won the match comfortably, and taking an unbelievable 5-5 draw against West Worthing A.

Woodlands B Steyning A

On Tuesday evening Woodlands B had a comfortable win against Steyning A with Kris Pokorowski, Chris Baker and Andy Foster picking up trebles.

Woodlands E Steyning B

On the opposite side of the hall Woodlands E were playing Steyning B and the home team suffered a 1-9 defeat in their reverse of the opening game of the season. Joanne Hanson spoiled a Steyning full house with a victory against John Kemp-Potter. The game was closer than the score suggests with four matches going to five games. Phil Keene and Spencer Wells were unlucky not to come away with some of the spoils.

4/11/2019

Woodlands C Woodlands B

Honours were even in Div One when Woodlands C met Woodlands B. A successful club debut for Tony Holmes who won two for the C team, along with Chris Newberry (2) and Alan Gess (1).

Ian Burgess (1), Chris Baker (2) and Andy Foster (1) were the B team. The B’s were actually 5-2 in arrears, but pulled back the last three games to level the match.

Woodlands I Fizz

Woodlands I lost 3-7 to Fizz with David Parr winning two for Woodlands in their Div Three game.

21/10/2019

Woodlands I Lancing E

Last night Woodlands I lost 6-4 to Lancing E in a superb match. Sue West, David Macmillan and David Parr all won one and the doubles was a game of two very long halves.

Parr and Macmillan were crafty and cunning in the final three games having lost the first two very closely. Their 407 combined years of experience shone through in the final game .

Woodlands E Woodlands G

In a local derby there was a Div 2 clash; Woody E beat Woody G 8-2. Simon Long and Spencer Wells won three. The highlight of the evening was Simon Long crashing into the side wall in an effort to make the hall wider!!!!

After a small delay Simon was able to return to the table and beat Anne Rozario, but only after a marathon game which finally finished 19-17 to Simon. ( Hope the back is Ok Simon )

Scorecard says E & F, should read E & G
Joanne & Spencer win the doubles against Simon & James
The Chuckle Brothers after the match

Woodlands B Lancing C

On the other table Woodlands B had a less uneventful match, they beat Lancing C 9-1. Chris Baker and Andy Foster won three, but at one point had only two players ready to play, which soon turned into four players. David Churcher of Lancing C was unlucky to come away with nothing.

It was like an old reunion as David Churcher and Andy Foster are both from the late Pat Ginnaw stable of Arundel TTC from yester-year. During their match it was obvious they had the same coach.

Andy Foster and David Churcher

14/10/2019

Lancing A Woodlands B

Woody B lose 6-4 to Lancing A .

As you can see Lancing player Mike Yung-Hok was on fire.

Woodlands G Roundup

Two matches in a week for Woody G, firstly losing to West Worthing A 8-2. West Worthing A were too strong for G, although captain James Pettigrew took one, and Simon McAlister came close in a 5-gamer against Andrew Kerkove. Pettigrew and McAlister reliably took the doubles however.

Later on the week Woody G lost to Woody D in a nail biting 6-4. It was James Hanson's first game of the season and he remarkably won a game against stiff opposition. This match was Pettigrew's first ever Treble Win in Division Two. Woody G nearly forced another point in the doubles, which went to 10-10 in the 5th game but they couldn't hang on.

7/10/2019

Woodlands A Lancing A

Woody A beat Lancing A 9-1. Alex Cumbers made his league debut for the Club and won three as did Chris Angus. Glyn Hydes won two, but lost in five games to Marcus Bracey. Tom Tobias and Peter Hall made up the Lancing team. Cumbers and Angus teamed up for the doubles win.

Woodland B Lancing B

The following night Woody B beat Lancing B 7-3.

Kris Pokorowski and Chris Baker bagged trebles and won the doubles in five. Laurie Fountain had to forfeit his final match due to an injury.

Woodlands A Woodlands B

Woody A beat Woody B 6-4 in a humdinger. Chris Angus gets a treble for the A’s but Kris Pokorowski and Ian Burgess both win 2 for the B’s
