Social Events at Woodlands 2014

Christmas Evening, December 19th

Some 35 members gathered at the Littlehampton venue for the Club's Christmas evening.

The evening started with some friendly competitive games loosely based on table tennis which brought out the competitive spirit but also were the source of great hilarity.

After a break for some splendid refreshments one and all joined in a singalong of Christmas music organised and well supported by Joanna Hanson at the piano.

During the evening memento plaques were presented to all persons who had been selected as Club person of the year since its inception.

There was general agreement that the whole evening was very happy and friendly.

Club's Annual Dinner, October 10th

The Club's Annual Dinner took place at the Vardar Restaurant, 3 & 4 Selbourne Place, Littlehampton. Members enjoyed a friendly social gathering with entertainment, again provided by Lee Everett.

Special Evening, August 26th

Woodlands Table Tennis Club hosted a special evening for all Clubs in the Worthing League. The firm of Bribar attended at Woodlands Village Hall and displayed a comprehensive collection of Blades and Rubbers to try, together with Clothing. All items were available for purchase. Woodlands Walks

4th May 2014

Ken Line led a group of intrepid members on one of his famous “short” walks. They set off through Clapham Woods, passed Clapham Church and the 400 year-old beech tree on their way to Findon Church where hunger overtook them and they stopped for a snack.

After a much needed rest, they passed Findon Cricket Club, crossed the treacherous Long Furlong Road and climbed up to Myrtle Grove before making their way back to the Worlds End Pub. We are pleased to report that not only was no-one was lost along the way but they also overtook a group of walkers doing the Duke of Edinburgh’s award.

Highlight of the day was lunch in the sunshine in the gardens of the Worlds End where they were able to re-charge their energy enough to play table tennis the following week.

14th APRIL 2013

A group of members met at Chichester Harbour for a walk to Itchenor organised by Ken and Julie Line. The heavy rain of the previous week had left some parts of the walk very muddy but most of the group carried on regardless led by Ken while some took a shorter route led by Julie.

The day was great social occasion with a great deal of chat and laughter as well as including some interesting sights and was considered a great success by all who took part.

Thanks are due to Ken and Julie for their organisation of what is now considered an annual event.

The Annual Golf Day, 16th May 2014

The Annual Golf Day at Hillbarn Golf Club in Worthing took place in ideal weather conditions and was again well organised by David Parr. The handicapping proved to be spot on as there was only 1 point between 1st & second and 1 point between 2nd & 3rd.

The winning team was John (Will) Norrell, Paul Robinson & Mervyn Hughes going round in 76, second was John Rowlands, Les Nicholls & Dave Richardson on 77 with Ray Lee, John Cornelius & Tony Wingate coming third on 78.

The event was run as a Texas Scramble which is a really good competition that lets players of limited ability take part. There were 5 teams of 3 and all who took part said how much they had enjoyed the day.

Thank you again goes to David Parr.

Summer Get Together. July 5th
