Ekta Kapoor was born on June 7, 1975 in mumbai. She has attended Bombay Scottish School and then completed her degree of Bachelors of Commerce from Mithibai College.

Ekta Kapoor has started her career as a producer of TV-serial at an early age of 19. With her father's advice and financial help, she started her TV-serial production house named Balaji telefilms. She gave the television entertainment a huge turn with her TV serials. Her serials were aired on many Indian channels such as Star Plus, Zee TV and Sony Entertainment Television and very soon she changed the face of Indian television industry. She works as the Creative Head and Managing Director of Balaji Telefilms. Known as the Queen of Soap Operas in India, Ekta is remembered best for giving television entertainment the most cataclysmic turn ever. She began with unusual realistic serials like Koshish Ek Asha which starred Sandya Mridul. Currently her serials on air are Bade Acche Lagte Hai, Gumraah and Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada.
She decided to turn of Bollywood when she was at the peak of her career, winning awards every year for her daily soaps. In 2001, she released Kyoo Ki… Main Jhooth Nahi Bolta which starred Sushmita Sen and Govinda. In 2003 and 2004, she focused mainly on supernatural stories and thrillers like Krishna Cottage and Kucch Toh Hai. 2005 turned out to be a golden year for the lady when Kya Kool Hia Hum went on to be listed as one of the year’s biggest hits.
Ekta is a example of a woman for young creative heads and entrepreneurs. She single handedly has earned her stature in the industry, be it television or cinema. And keeping all criticisms about her work aside, she has given television a stature that no one else before her could.
