Born and brought up in Mumbai, Wadia did his initial schooling at St. Lawrence's Boarding School in Sanawar. After that, he moved to a boarding school in England where he completed his graduation.
WADIA GROUP
The Wadia Group is one of the oldest conglomerates of corporate India. The group worth ₹100 billion (US$1.5 billion) in 2012, was founded by Sir Lovji Nusserwanjee Wadia in 1736. Lovji Wadia secured contracts with the British East India Company to build ships and docks in Bombay in 1736.
Bombay Dyeing
Bombay Dyeing (full name: The Bombay Dyeing & Mfg. Co. Ltd., established 1879) is the flagship company of the Wadia Group, engaged mainly into the business of Textiles. Bombay Dyeing is one of India's largest producers of textiles.
Its current chairman is Nusli Wadia. In March 2011, Jehangir 'Jeh' Wadia, the younger son of Nusli, has been named the managing director of Wadia Group's flagship, Bombay Dyeing & Manufacturing Company, while the elder son, Ness has resigned from the post of joint MD of the company. Ratan Tata, the ex-chairman of Tata group was on the board of directors till 2013.
The company was ranked 68 in the Business India Super 100 list in 1997 and was ranked 300 in the ET 500 list in 2010. The company sponsors many events, including Bombay Dyeing Gladrags Mrs. India contest.
Go Air
GoAir is an Indian Low cost carrier based in Mumbai. It commenced operations in November 2005. It is the aviation foray of the Wadia Group. As of January 2014, it is the fifth largest airline in India by market share. It operates domestic passenger services to 22 cities with over 140 daily flights and approximately 975 weekly flights. Its hubs are at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai and Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi.
GoAir was founded in the year 2005 by Jehangir Wadia, the younger son of eminent Indian industrialist Nusli Wadia. The airline marked the entry into the critical aviation sector for the Wadia Group, an Indian business conglomerate famous for its companies like Bombay Dyeing and Britannia Industries.[6] The Wadia group wholly owns the airline. Jehangir Wadia is also the Managing Director (MD) of the airline. GoAir launched its operations in November 2005 using Airbus A320 aircraft.
