Rahul Bajaj serves as Managing Director of Bajaj Capital Ltd. Bajaj served as Managing Director of Bajaj Holdings & Investment Limited since April 1, 2005. Bajaj served as Managing Director of Bajaj Holdings & Investment Limited (formerly, Bajaj Auto Ltd.) from March 31, 2005 to February 20, 2008 and its President from March 3, 2002 to February 20, 2008. Mr. Bajaj served as Managing Director of Bajaj Auto Finance Ltd., since April 1 2005. He served as Joint Managing Director of Bajaj Auto Ltd. from March 12, 2003 to March 31, 2005. Bajaj joined Bajaj Auto as an Officer-on-Special Duty on December 19, 1990 and served as its Vice President of Products since July 1, 1995. Having obtained extensive on-the-job experience in Bajaj Auto, he has been leading for more than a decade a major technological and marketing reorientation, so as to meet the existing and future competitive challenges. He has been spearheading Bajaj Auto's transition from a predominant scooter and three-wheeler manufacturer to a formidable force to reckon with in the motorcycle segment as well in the areas of product design, development, manufacturing and marketing. To his credit, amongst others, goes the setting up of Bajaj Auto's ultra modern plant at Chakan (near Pune) and the in-house design and development of the 'Pulsar' and 'BYK' range of motorcycles.
Rajiv was the first to introduce the concept of Financial Planning in India. He has also played a pivotal role in revamping the supply chain and the marketing set-up in Bajaj Auto and in introducing innovative strategies to provide a cutting edge. He serves as Non-Executive Director of Bajaj Auto Finance Ltd. and previously served as its Executive Director. He also serves as a Director of Bajaj Finserv Ltd.
He has been a Whole-time Director of Bajaj Auto Ltd. since March 5, 2002. He has been a Director of Bajaj Holdings & Investment Limited since February 20, 2008. He has been a Member of the Supervisory Board of KTM Power Sports AG since November 2007. He is the Founding Chairman of the Association of Financial Planners (AFP).
Rajiv Bajaj was born on December 21, 1966. He is a distinction holder in mechanical engineering (Pune University) and has a masters degree with distinction in manufacturing systems engineering, from the University of Warwick, U.K.
He has contributed to and participated in the successful transition of Bajaj to a high quality manufacturer of high performance motorcycles by conceiving and executing a realistic and result-oriented plan that was focused on a few significant issues, that gradually grew upon everyone, and that has always secured profitability.
He has worked at Bajaj Auto in the areas of Manufacturing & Supply Chain (1990-95), R+D and Engineering (1995-2000), and Marketing and Sales (2000-2005), and has been its Managing Director since April 2005. His current priority is the application of the scientific principles of Homoeopathy to the task of building a brand centred strategy at Bajaj Auto with the objective of achieving its vision of being one of the world’s leading motorcycle manufacturers. He has been on the board of Bajaj Auto Ltd since March 5, 2002.
He realigned marketing and sales while introducing some of the successful new products into selective international markets. 2005 onwards he serves as a Managing Director- He developed the Corporate theme of Profitable Growth through a cross-functional effort of Winning Products, Satisfied Customers, and Lean Operations.
Rajiv has been awarded Best CEO Private Player by Forbes. This is an award which is given for an outstanding leadership in the private sector. The CEO has to demonstrate strategic foresight and leadership to deliver superior performance over the past three years, prepared the organization for the next phase of growth and acted as catalyst for transforming organization.
Rajiv has also been named ‘Entrepreneur Of The Year 2010’ by Ernst And Young.
