Tour of RNLI

Twenty-eight members from Weybay WI went for lunch and a tour of t the RNLI College in Poole.

After a lovely lunch, the group split up into smaller numbers each with a volunteer guide. The guide provided the group with lots of facts and figures, they saw interesting films and toured the building where training takes place.  It was very interesting and gave an excellent insight into the invaluable work undertaken by volunteers in extreme conditions. The simulator was good fun, members had a go at driving a lifeboat in severe sea conditions, very scary!  It's certainly not easy, they are very brave people.  The College is an amazing facility and it's humbling to be able to see behind the scenes of such an important charity.
