2014 Archive
10/20/14: What a fantastic time we had yesterday at the Bath Haunted Halloween Hunter Pace! The weather was perfect - sunny and breezy. We want more fall days like this!
10/12/14: With the swirling red, gold, and orange leaves it's really starting to feel like fall! The AHR Fall Haflinger Sale was this past weekend and I have so much news to share! Friday night the HCC held its annual awards banquet. Look below for a full accounting of WRF's accomplishments. THEN, on Saturday the most perfect filly ever stepped foot into the sale arena and we just had to take her home. A big shout out to Glinda RVM - we're so excited to see what the future holds for you! Pictured below to the left is little Glinda with Abby and Gigi letting her know all about the friends she's going to find at her new home. Pictured below to the right is the WRF gang with their 2014 HCC loot.

9/28/14: WRF conquered cow sorting and team penning today (or perhaps, the cows conquered us!). While there wasn't much actual successful sorting or penning, lots of laughing ensued and fun was had by all! What a fantastic fall this is shaping up to be!
9/8/14: The last HCC show was a success! WRF took 13 horses to the 4-day AHR Nationals and had a wonderful time competing and hanging out with our haflinger friends. The whole WRF team was in attendance (including our junior team members), which made for a busy schedule! Enjoy some pictures from the weekend below! Also check out this silly video from Saturday night :-)
8/28/14: Summer is officially over (boo-hoo)! The North kids moved into the Great Geauga County Fair yesterday and they'll be there through the end of the week and into next week. We wish them luck for a successful fair! Since the last update we went to the Central Ohio Haflinger Show, went on a hunter pace, competed in a mini-trial, goofed around at home, went swimming in the Chagrin River, and everyone started back to school or college! Even though we're sad summer is over, we had such a fabulous time! Next weekend is the last Haflinger show of the year (Nationals) and we're hoping to finish strong.
7/28/14: Last weekend we went to the West Country Classic HDT put on by Stacey Guiere. We took seven horses and spent a wonderful day doing driven dressage, cones, and then a marathon. We had three first time horses that had never done an HDT before - Katie, Gabby, and Noble. Noble was part of a tandem though, so he took it to a whole new level! WRF put on a spectacular show, bringing home quite a few blues and lots of trophies. Check out some pictures below:
7/14/14: We've been loving this summer weather! Not too hot, not too cold, just right!! Since the last update, we went to the New York Gold Classic Haflinger Show and brought 12 horses with us (12!!). The show was fabulous and all the horses and girls performed superbly!
7/6/14: We've been so busy I've forgotten to update the website! We went to the Buckeye Haflinger Show last weekend and had a phenomenal time. The ponies were so well behaved and all members of the WRF team performed well! Check out a picture below! We've also swum in the Chagrin River, took six ponies to a fourth of July parade, went to several 4-H shows, qualified for state fair, attended and showed at Horse Progress Days and a zillion other things. Oh, and check out our haflingers for sale page - Stanhope WRF has just been added!
5/25/14: What a gorgeous Memorial Weekend! The weather has been sunny, warm and perfect! We came home from the AHR spring sale yesterday - with a couple new horses I might add (oops)! Our friend from Florida, Sharon Cribbs, brought home two geldings: Arbow BWS and Arnik WGF. I bought a mare, Cozy's Dutchess, for Rachael Kindler as a training project this summer. Look for her at the HCC shows! Not only did we bring home sale horses, but we also took home Nunavick GF, Andrew, Linda, and Mae's stallion for Emily to work with and show this summer. In addition to all the purchasing fun, we also performed the jumping drill team twice! Check out a video here of the jumping drill team performing on Saturday morning before the sale started! The OHA Frontier Riders Drill Team also performed and look fabulous. Check out a video here of their performance! Tomorrow we are participating in the Sharon Center Memorial Day Parade and then going to the Stone Gate Hunter Pace.
4/14/14: We are home from Equine Affaire and what a fabulous, busy, friend-filled, FUN-filled five days!! Our farm participated in 2 Dana Hokana clinics, 3 Marc Johnson clinics, 4 breed demos, and performed the jumping drill team 3 times! Check out a video here of the jumping drill team performing on Saturday! We took 9 horses from the farm (Ladd, Noble, Rex, Gabby, Charm, Charlie, Lena, August, and Charlotte) and the ponies LOVED all the attention they got. We are already looking forward to next year!!
3/1/14: Today was a day filled with fun and success! WRF took five horses to the March Schooling Show at Chagrin Valley. Nicole showed August in his first 2'3 course and took home two blues! Rachael Kindler and Charlotte took home Grand Champion in the 2' division, Abby and Charm took home Grand Champion in the 18" division and Anna and Charlotte took home Grand Champion in the W/T crossrail division! Kelly and Charlie and Nicole and Gabby also rode in the 2' division, doing fabulously (it was Gabby's first time moving up to 2')! Ellie and Charm rode in the W/T flat classes and Ellie won her first blue ribbon! Best of all, we had a blast and got to hang out with all our horsey friends!
2/16/14: What a great weekend! WRF took seven horses to the February GLADS ADT held at Windy Knoll in Sullivan, Ohio. We had two first time people (Rachael Kindler and Nicole Zelenak) and three first time horses (Charlotte, Gabby and Noble)! Everyone and their ponies did amazingly and fun was had by all! Heather and Harry took first place in single prelim pony, while Lou and Rex took second right behind them. Emily and Ladd took first place in single prelim horse, Rachael C. and Charm took first place in single training pony with Paul and Noble taking second and Rachael K. and Charlotte taking third. Nicole and Gabby took third in single training horse. Check out some pictures below!!
1/27/14: Happy New Year! WRF is excited for all the fun and laughter that will happen in 2014! We are getting ready for Equine Affaire in April, attending Hunter Jumper Schooling shows at Chagrin Valley Farm, and playing with our ponies in the snow!
