Hi all,
it has been about a week since last time and our team has made more progress toward our project.
Firstly, we wrote a draft for the results and discussion section for the paper, and included visuals using the data collected. We filtered the base green layer by condition and access just to show what we can do with the data. We are still in the process of collecting more data but what we already have is enough to show the trend.
Here are the map of green spaces filtered by condition:
And here are is the map filtered by Access:
These visuals are just examples of how we can analyze data. From the diagram we can see that a majority of land is A or B condition and many are complete open to public. We also noticed that many public green space are small and in poor condition, private lands are generally in better condition and etc. This are many trends we can discover as we dig dipper into the data and as we complete our data collection.
Secondly, with the help from VPC staff, we've made great strides in app development. The feature of adding polygons to the database was added to the application. However, due to some projection issues, we had some trouble overlaying our map data on top of Google Maps. In the end, we were able to think of a work-around solution, and in the process we found a bug in QGIS! The next step is to be able to display information about each polygon individually when you click on it! The grey polygons you see is our data, and there's more to come!
Alright, that's what we've got so far, see y'all after the break.
Happy Thanksgiving!
